In an era when movies are regularly remade and franchises are frequently rebooted, it should come as no surprise that Disney will be releasing a live-action remake of the beloved children’s tale The Jungle Book. The film, based on Rudyard Kipling's 1894 short stories of the same name, is a remake of Disney's 1967 animation and is all ready to hit the theatres.
The trailer just hit the masses and this version just dropped jaws and looks gorgeous. This Jungle Book is to hit the theatres next April. Jon Favreau is directing the adaptation of Disney's animated and stars newcomer Neel Sethi as Mowgli. It also has the impeccable casting of Bill Murray as the voice of Baloo, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha, and Christoper Walken as King Louie. Sadly, you won’t hear any of them in this trailer.
This time around, Disney keeps the focus of The Jungle Book on Mowgli’s adaptation to life in the jungle, rather than potential romance and Indiana Jones-like stunts. A statement released by Disney said: "The Jungle Book seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world."
