Turner’s Oh!K channel to be launched in Malaysia

Turner Broadcasting has announced that Oh!K, its new Korean entertainment channel, made its Malaysian debut today on Astro. The high-definition channel now offers audiences the best of Korean drama and variety programming, with selected series airing less than a day after their initial transmission date.
Commenting on the debut of Oh!K in Malaysia, Phil Nelson, Turner’s Senior Vice President and Managing Director of North Asia and Southeast Asia Pacific, said: “Turner’s leading brands – CNN and Cartoon Network – have been key News and Kids channels in Astro’s portfolio for years, so we can’t wait to delight Malaysian audiences with Oh!K, our latest general entertainment channel. Since its regional debut last year, Oh!K has already gained strong popularity, with some of the very best Korean drama and variety series airing within 24 hours of their original telecast.”
The subscribers can watch a selection of top-rated shows on Turner’s 24-hour linear channel Oh!K fromJanuary 12, 2016. In addition, MBC shows are available through now TV’s SVOD service, Oh!K On Demand, as well as via Viu, a newly-launched OTT service from PCCW. Another part of the Turner-PCCW agreement is the delivery of MBC shows on now TV’s upcoming free-to-air channel, launching in April 2016.
Oh!K, which is a brand created and distributed by Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific, features an impressive line-up of first-run dramas, music shows and variety programmes. It is powered by content from leading Korean broadcaster, MBC, best-known for its hugely-popular drama productions.
