The biennial automobile extravaganza comes to an end with 108 new launches

The 12th edition of Delhi Auto Expo is driving to its last day in the capital. The Auto Expo is made of two major events- the Motor Show and the Components Exhibition. While the motor show is being held at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, the components exhibition is being held at Pragati Maidan.

The 12th edition of Delhi Auto Expo is driving to its last day in the capital. The Auto Expo is made of two major events- the Motor Show and the Components Exhibition. While the motor show is being held at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, the components exhibition is being held at Pragati Maidan. The venue, India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, itself has been through a massive makeover. It now houses six large halls with an additional carpet area of 37,240 square metre (sq.m.). The venue previously had only eight permanent halls measuring 27,648 sq.m. As a result, in the 2014 edition, the remaining display was curated in temporary hangers measuring 32,400 sq.m. The gross indoor exhibition space has increased from 67,000 sq.m. in the previous edition to 73,000 sq.m. in the current edition.

The first two days were open to media and business visitors and the expo was open to the public from the 5th February to 9th of February. The footfall till date has crossed 7Lakh visitors to see products from over 100 exhibitors out of which 65 were vehicle manufacturers. As many as 80 launches took place this year with almost every manufacturer displaying their new and popular products here.

Local and global manufacturers are gearing up the competition by making models to suit and go along with the tastes of their Indian market. India now sells 2.6 million passenger vehicles a year and most global automakers have their representation in the country.

Big names in the automobile industry showcased their best and launched some great products at the expo, like the much-awaited Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Some of the concept cars also grabbed eyeballs at the event; street plays, puppet shows and laser shows were other attractions. Adding to the glamour quotient were Katrina Kaif, Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Alia Bhatt, Taapsee Pannu. Some of the leading cricketers of the country like Zaheer Khan, Virat Kohli, Piyush Chawla along with the little master Sachin Tendulkar.
