2016 Mini Cooper Convertible Launched in India

Dated: March 18, 2016

BMW India has officially launched the all-new Mini Convertible at an ex-Showroom price of INR 34.9 lakhs. The new Mini Convertible joins the car maker’s range of Mini Cooper, Cooper S and Countryman models in India. The car will be brought into the country through CBU (Completely Built Unit) and will be placed against the Volkswagen Beetle and the Mercedes Benz A Class in the performance-cum-luxury hatch category.

The new Mini Convertible’s soft-top can be retracted in 18 seconds, and for the first time offers a ‘Mini YOURS’ version with the option of a Union Jack. It is based on BMW Group’s UKL front-wheel drive platform, and is claimed to offer 25 percent more boot space than its predecessor (215 liters).

The new Mini Convertible is powered by the Cooper S’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine capable of 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and hits a top-speed of 233 km/h. The drive is channelled via a 6-speed automatic transmission or an optional 6-speed Sports automatic transmission. The claimed fuel economy is 14.59 km/l.

"The all-new MINI Convertible is unapologetically outgoing. It's a spontaneous and emotionally intensive way of savouring authentic MINI driving fun," BMW Group India President Philipp von Sahr said.
