Modi Launches e-NAM portal

Digital India Campaign by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been changing lifes since its launch in July 2015. The main objective behind the campaign was to connect rural areas, provide them with internet networks which allows them to stay connected to the outer world and improve digital literacy. And with the launch of e-NAM, an online portal for trading in agriculture produce, Narendra Modi has made it very clear that he is serious about the campaign. e-NAM frees the farmers from the clutches of middlemen and educates them of the fair market rates of the produce. The launch of e-NAM is said to bring revolutionary changes in agricultural fields and double the income of farmers by the year 2022.
e-NAM will be connecting 21 mandis from eight states in the beginning period. The centre aims to bring 585 mandis together on the platform by 2018.
Farmer products like onions and potatoes are sold at different prices in various cities. With e-NAM, the farmers get to shoot the price and be very alert of the happenings in the market.
The e-NAM project will be shared with all the willing states without cost along with a trained person to explain its working. With the help of the trained person every linked mandi will be able to facilitate smooth functioning of the portal for one year. Besides, Under the e-NAM project, farmers will be provided "farmer helpline services round the clock" for obtaining information related to this portal.
The farmers may improve their knowledge and skill level after getting used e-NAM. It is an ambitious project from Narendra Modi benefiting everyone, especially the farmers. Digital empowerment of Indian people will really make possible of digital literacy through universally accessible digital resources.
