Dailyhunt Buys 15% in Oneindia to Produce Videos

Dailyhunt has acquired a minority stake in local language news website OneIndia for Rs 15 crore. The deal will help Dailyhunt generate multimedia content (short videos and audio) for its platform. OneIndia also has an app called 60 Seconds Now which gives news snippets in 60-70 words in local languages such as Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu.
“With this investment, Greynium will expand into other genres and create short format video and audio content while we will leverage our distribution platform to offer multimedia content to our local language user base.” Virendra Gupta, founder & CEO of Verse Innovation, which runs Dailyhunt, said.
The deal will help Dailyhunt, which focuses on local language users, generate multimedia content, especially short format video and audio, for its platform. The two companies already have a content partnership.
OneIndia was founded in January 2006 by BG Mahesh and provides local language content and publishes content across genres such as lifestyle, entertainment, technology, automobiles, travel, personal finance and education in eight local languages.It reaches 35 million unique visitors and 500-million page views a month.
