Network18 Rebrands IBN7 as News18 India
Dated: November 09, 2016
The Hindi news channel of TV18, IBN7, will be rebranded as News18 India this month on November 9. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) had given its approval in the month of September for the channel’s renaming.
The development will bring along a new programming for its audience. With Awasthi joining the IBN7 team as the deputy managing editor, a new editorial team will now be set up with the arrival of Kishor Ajwani (from ABP News) and Amish Devgan (from Zee Business).
Prabal Pratap Singh, Consulting Editor, News18 India spoke regarding the new identity of the channel: “Our news channel has seen tremendous energy over the past few months. We have broken several big stories and I feel repositioning ourselves with the tagline “Danke Ki Chot Par” aptly captures the spirit of what we are trying to achieve. Going forward, the channel will continue to ask even more pointed questions with an aim to challenge the status quo. Editorially, the thrust will be on constructive criticism and we will leave no stone unturned to ensure that our passion for fearless journalism results in positive impact on society.”
The TV18 group actually owns and operates 18 news channels in English, Hindi, Urdu and other local languages. The company has newly introduced three local channels for the Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam/North East under the News18 brand. Three other licences are under the News18 brand which are namely News18 Goa, News18 Punjab and News18 Jammu & Kashmir.
