President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurates 35th India International Trade Fair

President Pranab Mukherjee has officially inaugurated the 36th India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. South Korea will be the 'Partner Country' for this year's fair, while Belarus will be the Focus 'Country'. Similarly, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand will be the 'Partner States' and Haryana the 'Focus State'. The theme of this year’s fair is ‘Digital India’ and will see participation from 7,000 participants. Over 150 companies from 27 countries will also be taking part in the fair.
President Pranab Mukherjee said, “The IITF is a mega projection of the new India that is fast taking shape. It showcases the vision of a glorious tomorrow, a spirit of excellence and achievement and unparalleled investment opportunity through the prism of the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ initiatives taken by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. The fair symbolises India’s commitment towards bringing the benefits of economic reform to its people from all walks of life, especially the under-privileged.”
He further said, the range of reforms being undertaken, including the GST, shall enable the states and union territories to compete with each other in attracting investments and business opportunities.
The annual fair is immensely popular among the consumers as it features state-of-the-art technologies, products and services. The fair also showcases a huge variety of handicrafts and handlooms with multifarious hues and designs.
