David Mitchell Heads to Havas RiverOrchid
Dated: November 28, 2016
Havas RiverOrchid has appointed David Mitchell its managing director in Vietnam. He will be reporting to CEO Pick-Santiphong Pimolsaengsurya. He takes on the role in Ho Chi Minh City from 1 December, and comes in to replace Phong Le, who has resigned after a three-year stint as GM to focus more time on his family business. He will keep ties with the agency in a consultancy capacity.
Phong Le, a MullenLowe, Ogilvy, JWT and Golden Communication executive, joined as GM of Havas Riverorchid at the start of 2014. Before joining Riverorchid in Laos, Mitchell worked at Leo Burnett Indonesia.
Pick Pimolsaengsuriya, CEO and founder partner of Havas Riverorchid, said: “There’s a saying in Vietnamese that ‘the world is round’. With us and David it seems that way! We thoroughly enjoyed working together in Laos a number of years ago – he left the business there in great shape. We’re delighted to welcome him back to the group. Vietnam is of huge importance to our business and we very much look forward to working together once more.”
Warwick Olds, also founder partner at Havas Riverorchid, said about the departure of Phong Le: “Phong is moving on to focus more on his family businesses and we wish him every success. We’re also extremely happy that he will continue to assist us and work together on a consultancy basis. Phong’s contribution to our business has been exceptional – and I hope we shall continue to co-operate for a long time to come.”
