Sunil Rajshekhar Joins IPSMF as CEO

Sunil Rajshekhar who for a significant part of his career was with the Times Group has joined Independent Public Spirited Media Foundation (IPSMF) as CEO. Rajshekhar confirmed the news to exchange4media.
He was CEO of Times Group company - Metropolitan Media Co Ltd (MMCL) in his last assignment. At MMCL, he was primarily responsible for turning around the loss-making acquisition - Kannada daily Vijay Karnataka into one of Times Group's most profitable brands. At Times, he held various other portfolios including head of Times Internet and as head of Private Treaties now named as Brand Capital.
While at Star TV's internet division (between 2000-2003), Rajshekhar was COO responsible for overseeing Star India's digital investments.
The Independent and Public-Spirited (IPS) Media Foundation promotes excellence in independent, public-spirited and socially impactful journalism. The foundation provides financial and other assistance to organizations creating and distributing public-interest information to the public at large using digital media, social media, mass media or any other media, thereby bringing about proper awareness and improving public understanding of issues.
The foundation is the first systemic effort to fund new media ventures in India that aren’t conceived as for-profit enterprises in a country where the mainstream media is widely seen as tainted by ownership and related conflict of interest issues, a pursuit of ratings and dubious ethics.
The trust is governed by a board including the likes of private equity investor and philanthropist Ashish Dhawan, former Chairman of market regulator Sebi CB Bhave and historian-author Ramachandra Guha and is chaired by journalist TN Ninan, Chairman and Editorial director of the newspaper firm, Business Standard.
