DFCC Bank PLC has appointed Shamindra Marcelline as Executive Director effective 15 June 2026, reinforcing its leadership team amid a strategy focused on customer excellence, digital innovation, sustainability, and growth. Currently Deputy CEO, Marcelline’s extensive experience and governance role are seen as pivotal in advancing the Bank’s transformation journey.

DFCC Bank PLC has announced the appointment of Shamindra Marcelline as Executive Director, effective 15 June 2026, following approval from the Bank’s Board of Directors and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The move represents a significant milestone in the Bank’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its leadership team and advance its long-term strategy, which is centred on customer-centric excellence, digital innovation, operational agility, sustainable growth, and transformation.

Marcelline, who currently serves as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, brings a wealth of experience and strategic insight to the role. His responsibilities span several critical functions, including customer excellence, sustainability, information security risk, and logistics and real estate. In addition, he serves as Alternate Chair of the Credit Committee, contributing to the Bank’s governance and risk management framework. His broad remit underscores the trust placed in him to guide DFCC Bank through a period of transformation and growth.

Director and Chief Executive Officer Thimal Perera highlighted the importance of Marcelline’s appointment, noting that his leadership and extensive experience have already played a vital role in driving the Bank’s priorities. Perera emphasised that Marcelline’s strategic vision and ability to strengthen organisational capabilities will be instrumental in positioning DFCC Bank for future success.

The appointment comes at a time when DFCC Bank is intensifying its focus on digital innovation and sustainability, two pillars that are increasingly shaping the financial services industry in Sri Lanka and beyond. By elevating Marcelline to the role of Executive Director, the Bank signals its commitment to embedding these priorities at the highest levels of leadership. His oversight of information security risk and sustainability reflects the Bank’s recognition of the growing importance of resilience, trust, and responsibility in financial services.

Marcelline’s leadership journey within DFCC Bank has been marked by a consistent focus on operational excellence and customer-centricity. His role in enhancing customer experience and embedding sustainability into the Bank’s operations aligns closely with DFCC’s broader mission to deliver value to stakeholders while contributing to national development. As the financial sector navigates rapid technological change and evolving customer expectations, his appointment is expected to provide continuity and strategic depth to the Bank’s transformation agenda.

The strengthening of DFCC Bank’s leadership team through Marcelline’s appointment also reflects a broader trend in Sri Lanka’s banking sector, where institutions are increasingly prioritising governance, risk management, and digital transformation. By reinforcing its executive leadership, DFCC Bank positions itself to compete more effectively in a dynamic market environment, while ensuring that its long-term strategy remains firmly anchored in sustainable growth and customer trust.

Marcelline’s elevation to Executive Director is therefore not only a recognition of his contributions to date but also a forward-looking decision that underscores DFCC Bank’s ambition to remain at the forefront of Sri Lanka’s financial services industry. His appointment is expected to strengthen the Bank’s ability to deliver on its strategic priorities and to navigate the challenges and opportunities of an evolving financial landscape.
