Glenfarclas Distillery has unveiled Glenfarclas 190, a limited-edition bottling created to celebrate 190 years of whisky-making at the family-owned Speyside distillery. The release, the final instalment in the Anniversary Trilogy following Glenfarclas 175 and Glenfarclas 185, brings together five decades of spirit to showcase the distillery’s full-bodied Highland Single Malt character. Bottled at 51.4% ABV, the whisky pays homage to the traditional British proof system used for more than 150 years of Glenfarclas production.
Presented in bespoke packaging inspired by labels from across the decades, Glenfarclas 190 is designed to tell the story of the distillery’s rich heritage. Distillery Manager Callum Fraser, named Scotland’s Master Distiller of the Year at the 2026 Icons of Whisky Awards, and Managing Director Douglas Belford, recognised as a Master of the Quaich in 2025, hand-selected 78 casks to create the final blend. Together, they sought to capture the exceptional quality and traditional character that define Glenfarclas.
Fraser described the whisky as “perfectly embodying the flavour of Glenfarclas,” with a smooth, velvety mouthfeel and notes of green apples, sherry sweetness, spicy Christmas cake, dark chocolate and fresh tobacco. He explained that the selection drew on fruitier notes from the 1970s, rich sherried flavours from the 1980s and 1990s, and toffee caramel tones from casks laid down in the 2000s.
John Grant OBE, chairman of Glenfarclas Distillery, reflected on the milestone: “Celebrating 190 years of distilling at Glenfarclas is a proud moment. As custodians for six generations, our commitment to producing the finest single malt whiskies using traditional methods remains steadfast.”
A limited release of 15,000 bottles will be made available globally from August 2026, priced at £95 in the UK. Non chill filtered and with no added colourings, Glenfarclas 190 offers whisky enthusiasts a journey through nearly two centuries of craftsmanship, encapsulating the enduring legacy of one of Scotland’s most respected distilleries.
