Jonathan Anderson’s Fall Winter 2026-2027 Haute Couture collection drew inspiration from artist Lynda Benglis, transforming her sculptural pleats into couture. Metallic lamé fabrics in silver, gold and copper shaped dresses and molded hats, showcasing a fusion of craftsmanship and artistry that redefined couture as a medium of sculptural experimentation.

Jonathan Anderson’s Fall Winter 2026-2027 Haute Couture collection drew inspiration from artist Lynda Benglis, weaving her sculptural language into couture through knotting, draping and pleating. Metallic lamé fabrics in silver, gold and copper reinterpreted Benglis’s pleated metal works, shaping a trio of dresses and molded hats that embodied craft and innovation.

Jonathan Anderson’s second couture collection for the House was unveiled with a striking dialogue between art and fashion, as he channelled the radical energy of Lynda Benglis into garments that blurred the boundaries of sculpture and couture. Benglis, celebrated for her experimental approach to materials and form, provided a rich source of inspiration for Anderson, who translated her visual vocabulary into techniques deeply rooted in the atelier. Knotting, draping and pleating became not just decorative gestures but structural devices, echoing the artist’s ability to manipulate matter into dynamic shapes.

Pleating, in particular, emerged as the defining motif of the collection. Benglis’s pleated metal sculptures, known for their tension between rigidity and fluidity, were revisited in couture through lamé fabrics densely woven with metallic yarns. Anderson’s trio of dresses shimmered in silver, gold and copper, each one a testament to the transformative power of pleating. The fabrics caught the light with sculptural precision, creating silhouettes that seemed to oscillate between softness and strength.

The collection’s accessories extended this exploration of form. Molded hats, crafted with the same pleated lamé, crowned the ensembles with a sculptural flourish, reinforcing the dialogue between Benglis’s art and Anderson’s couture. These headpieces were not mere adornments but integral to the narrative, embodying the fusion of craftsmanship and conceptual artistry.

Anderson’s approach underscored his belief in couture as a medium for experimentation. By drawing from Benglis’s oeuvre, he positioned the collection within a lineage of artists who challenge material boundaries, while simultaneously affirming the House’s commitment to artisanal excellence. The metallic palette of silver, gold and copper lent the show a timeless yet futuristic aura, situating the garments at the intersection of heritage and innovation.

Critics noted the coherence of Anderson’s vision, praising his ability to translate Benglis’s sculptural sensibility into wearable art. The pleated dresses, in particular, were hailed as highlights, embodying both the technical mastery of the atelier and the conceptual depth of the collaboration. For Anderson, the collection was not simply an homage but a reinvention, a way of reimagining couture through the lens of contemporary art.

The Fall Winter 2026-2027 Haute Couture Show thus marked a pivotal moment in Anderson’s tenure, affirming his role as a creative director unafraid to embrace artistic risk. By weaving Benglis’s sculptural language into couture, he offered a vision of fashion as living sculpture, where pleats, knots and drapes become the architecture of imagination.
