V-Guard Industries has appointed Mithun K. Chittilappilly as Chairperson and Managing Director, effective Sunday. Having served as Managing Director since 2012, Mithun has overseen the company’s transformation from a regional electrical brand to a nationwide consumer durables leader, with turnover rising from Rs 229 crore in 2006 to Rs 5,966 crore in FY2026.
Kochi-based V-Guard Industries has announced a significant leadership development with the appointment of Mithun K. Chittilappilly as Chairperson and Managing Director. The decision, taken by the Board of Directors, follows the completion of the term of Radha Unni, the outgoing Chairperson and Independent Director. Mithun, who has been serving as Managing Director since 2012, will now assume the dual responsibility of leading the company’s strategic vision and governance.
Mithun’s association with V-Guard began in 2006 when he joined as Executive Director. At that time, the company’s turnover stood at Rs 229 crore. Over the past two decades, under his stewardship, V-Guard has expanded its footprint across India, evolving from a South Indian electrical brand into a household name in consumer durables. The company’s turnover has multiplied 24 times, reaching Rs 5,966 crore in FY2026, a testament to its sustained growth and market relevance.
His leadership has been marked by a focus on innovation, diversification, and building a strong nationwide presence. V-Guard, once synonymous with voltage stabilisers, has broadened its portfolio to include a wide range of products spanning electricals, electronics, and home appliances. This transformation has not only strengthened its brand equity but also positioned it as a trusted player in India’s competitive consumer durables sector.
Speaking on his appointment, Mithun K. Chittilappilly described the new role as an honour at a crucial juncture for the company. He emphasised that the immediate priority is to prepare V-Guard for its next phase of growth as it approaches its 50th anniversary. His statement reflects a forward-looking vision, underscoring the importance of continuity and innovation in sustaining the company’s trajectory.
The leadership change also signals a generational shift in V-Guard’s governance. Radha Unni’s tenure as Chairperson was marked by stability and oversight, and her departure opens the way for Mithun to consolidate his influence across both executive and board functions. This move is expected to provide sharper alignment between strategy and execution, ensuring that V-Guard remains agile in responding to evolving consumer demands and market dynamics.
Industry observers note that V-Guard’s journey under Mithun’s leadership exemplifies the transformation of regional brands into national players through consistent investment in people, processes, and product innovation. As the company prepares to celebrate its golden jubilee, the appointment of Mithun as Chairperson and Managing Director is seen as both a recognition of his contributions and a strategic step towards shaping the future.
With consumer durables continuing to be a growth sector in India, V-Guard’s strengthened leadership is poised to drive the company into its next chapter, balancing tradition with modernity and reinforcing its position as a trusted household brand.
