Coca-Cola and VML New Zealand have launched a culturally resonant campaign that celebrates choice while keeping the brand’s iconic identity intact. By connecting different Coca-Cola products to familiar Kiwi moments, the work demonstrates relevance across everyday occasions, striking a chord with audiences through humour, music and unmistakable brand cues.
Coca-Cola has unveiled a new campaign in Aotearoa New Zealand that puts a distinctly Kiwi spin on its global brand message, proving there is a Coke to suit every occasion. Developed in partnership with VML New Zealand, the work avoids traditional value-led messaging and instead focuses on choice, showing how different Coca-Cola products naturally fit into everyday moments without losing the essence of what makes the brand unmistakably Coke.
The campaign’s creative execution is understated yet positive, reflecting the tone and rhythm of life in Aotearoa. Music crafted from scratch by the VML team transports audiences to a familiar Kiwi backyard, setting the scene for a story of mates sharing laughter. This simple, relatable backdrop reinforces the central thought: “There’s a Coke for everyone.”
Early results suggest the approach has resonated strongly with New Zealanders, with engagement numbers and sentiment tracking positively since launch. Gina Beck, Senior Manager, Coca-Cola TM at The Coca-Cola Company, explained: “Coca-Cola’s strength lies in the deep connection people have with its iconic taste and brand experience – something they’ve loved for generations. At the same time, our diverse range gives people plenty of choice in how and when they enjoy it. This campaign celebrates that choice in a way that feels relevant to Aotearoa New Zealand, while keeping everything people recognise and cherish about Coca-Cola firmly at the centre.”
VML New Zealand’s Group Executive Creative Director, Kim Pick, highlighted the cultural nuance at the heart of the work: “The interesting part of the brief was recognising that different Cokes already play different roles in people’s lives. Giving them names with a Kiwi tone let us talk about that choice in a way that feels culturally familiar and has a bit of fun with it. It’s a story about choice, but it still looks, sounds and feels unmistakably Coke.”
The campaign is running nationwide across television, out-of-home, online video and social platforms, ensuring visibility across multiple touchpoints. By weaving Coca-Cola into recognisable Kiwi occasions, the work demonstrates how the brand can remain relevant across diverse experiences – whether it’s a backyard laugh, a shared meal, or a moment of refreshment on the go.
In tone and execution, the campaign balances global brand consistency with local cultural resonance. It positions Coca-Cola not just as a beverage but as a companion to everyday life in Aotearoa, reinforcing the idea that no matter the occasion, there is always a Coke that fits.
With its blend of humour, music and cultural familiarity, the campaign underscores Coca-Cola’s ability to adapt while remaining true to its core identity. For Kiwis, it is a reminder that choice can be celebrated without compromise – and that in every moment, there’s a Coke waiting to be shared.
