Tourism organisation MeetBoston.com has launched a playful Out of Home campaign across Glasgow and Edinburgh, celebrating the bond forged with Scotland after more than 50,000 fans travelled to Boston for World Cup matches. The seven-day activation features humorous messages and an open invitation for Scotland to return anytime.
Meet Boston.com has taken its message of friendship across the Atlantic, lighting up Ocean Outdoor screens in Glasgow and Edinburgh with a campaign that celebrates the cultural connection forged during the FIFA World Cup. The initiative follows the arrival of over 50,000 Scottish football fans in Boston for the Haiti and Morocco fixtures, a visit that left an indelible mark on the city.

The Tartan Army’s presence was felt everywhere, from bars emptied of beer to statues adorned with traffic cones as makeshift hats. Far from being a disruption, the fans’ exuberance was embraced as a spirited exchange of culture, one that boosted Boston’s local economy and created lasting memories.
To honour this unexpected alliance, Meet Boston.com rolled out a seven-day Out of Home campaign designed to capture the humour and warmth of the encounter. Messages such as “Don’t worry we restocked the beer” and “No Boston. No Party” appeared across Scottish cities, accompanied by a heartfelt invitation: “Come back anytime, Scotland.”
The campaign was delivered in partnership with global OOH specialist Billups and creative agency Allen & Gerritsen, ensuring the activation resonated both visually and emotionally. By placing Boston’s voice on Scottish streets, the initiative underscores the power of sport to unite communities across borders and highlights the role of tourism in fostering cultural exchange.
For Meet Boston.com, the campaign is more than a marketing exercise; it is a celebration of shared joy and mutual respect. By acknowledging the impact of Scottish fans on Boston’s World Cup experience, the organisation has positioned itself as a welcoming host eager to continue the relationship.
The playful tone of the campaign reflects the spirit of the Tartan Army while reinforcing Boston’s identity as a city that thrives on diversity, camaraderie and celebration. In doing so, it bridges the Atlantic with humour and hospitality, ensuring that the memories of the World Cup live on in both Boston and Scotland.
