KPMG in Sri Lanka has announced the appointment of Sachiru Dayananda as a Partner of the Firm, effective 1 June 2026. The move reflects the organisation’s commitment to strengthening its leadership team with professionals who combine technical expertise, industry knowledge, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality services.

Sachiru’s career at KPMG spans 14 years, during which he has built a reputation for excellence in audit and related services. His experience includes a three-year tenure at KPMG in the Maldives, broadening his exposure to regional markets and enhancing his ability to manage diverse client portfolios. Prior to joining KPMG, he gained five years of experience in audit, tax, and advisory services, further strengthening his professional foundation.

Throughout his career, Sachiru has provided audit and assurance services to a wide range of industries, including financial services, plantations, manufacturing, telecommunications, aviation, healthcare, and hospitality. This breadth of exposure has enabled him to develop deep technical expertise and a nuanced understanding of industry-specific challenges. His ability to adapt to varied business contexts has been a hallmark of his professional journey.

Sachiru’s expertise extends to Sri Lanka Accounting Standards (LKAS) and Sri Lanka Financial Reporting Standards (SLFRS), where he has managed a broad portfolio of audit and compliance engagements. He has served as Engagement Manager for statutory audits, quarterly reviews, and other assurance assignments for several listed and large entities in Sri Lanka. In these roles, he has consistently demonstrated leadership in managing complex engagements and ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks.

Among his notable contributions are his leadership in implementing key International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), including IFRS 15 on Revenue from Contracts with Customers, IFRS 9 on Financial Instruments, and IFRS 16 on Leases. These projects required not only technical proficiency but also the ability to guide clients through significant changes in financial reporting practices, underscoring his capacity to deliver value in challenging contexts.

KPMG’s decision to elevate Sachiru to Partner reflects both his individual achievements and the Firm’s broader strategy of investing in leadership that can drive growth and innovation. His appointment is expected to further strengthen KPMG’s ability to serve clients across industries with integrity, professionalism, and insight.

As Sri Lanka’s business environment continues to evolve, Sachiru’s appointment signals KPMG’s commitment to supporting organisations in navigating complexity and achieving sustainable success. His blend of technical expertise, industry knowledge, and leadership experience positions him as a valuable addition to the Firm’s partnership and a trusted advisor to clients.
