Woodford Reserve’s Global Bar Exchange returns for its fourth edition later this year, with India joining the programme for the first time. The Brown-Forman-owned Bourbon’s initiative fosters cultural and creative exchanges among bartenders worldwide, building on its most ambitious third edition that spanned 12 markets across 2025 and 2026.

Woodford Reserve’s Global Bar Exchange (GBE) will return later this year, marking its fourth edition and confirming India as a new addition to the international advocacy programme. The Brown-Forman-owned Bourbon revived the initiative last year, describing its third edition as the most ambitious to date, spanning two phases across 2025 and 2026.

The Global Bar Exchange is designed to forge lasting connections and share knowledge among bartenders worldwide. This year’s iteration covered 12 markets, including Australia, Brazil, Thailand, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, the UK and the US. The programme immerses bartenders in different cities, encouraging them to explore regional ingredients, culinary techniques and hospitality traditions.

Experiences have ranged from late-night ramen counters in Tokyo and long-table feasts in São Paulo to rooftop bites in Hong Kong and espresso-fuelled mornings in Naples. Each encounter is intended to broaden perspectives and inspire creativity within the global bartending community.

Giuseppe Quartararo, head bartender and marketing lead at London’s Nightjar, reflected on the transformative nature of the programme: “The Global Bar Exchange is far more than a guest shift – it’s a true cultural and creative exchange. Sharing knowledge while learning from others has reshaped the way I see this industry. It’s a rare experience of passion, growth, and gratitude.”

Brisa Santos, bartender at Bar Mauro, echoed the sentiment, emphasising the personal impact of the initiative: “This experience was a door to realise how huge and incredible our world is, that there is still a lot to know and that nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it. This exchange made me realise how much the world can show me.”

With India now confirmed as part of the upcoming edition, the programme continues to expand its reach and influence. The inclusion reflects the growing prominence of India’s bar culture and its increasing role in global hospitality conversations. For Woodford Reserve, the Global Bar Exchange underscores its commitment to advocacy and cultural exchange, positioning bartenders not only as custodians of craft but also as ambassadors of creativity and connection.
