Diageo has named Procter & Gamble veteran Sujay Wasan as president of its Asia-Pacific business, effective 15 August 2026. With nearly 28 years at P&G, Wasan’s appointment underscores Diageo’s focus on strengthening leadership under new CEO Dave Lewis, ahead of its full-year results announcement this week.

Diageo has confirmed the appointment of Sujay Wasan as president of its Asia-Pacific (APAC) business, marking a significant leadership addition for the drinks major. Wasan, who spent close to 28 years at Procter & Gamble, most recently served as regional leader for the company’s Oral Care unit in North America. He succeeds John O’Keeffe, who transitioned in March to lead Diageo North America following the departure of Sally Grimes.

Wasan will formally assume his new role on 15 August and join Diageo’s executive committee, reporting directly to CEO Dave Lewis. Commenting on the appointment, Lewis said: “We’re delighted that Sujay will be joining Diageo. He is a global leader with a proven track record of consistently delivering breakthrough business results.”

The move comes at a pivotal moment for Diageo, which is set to unveil its full-year 2026 results on 6 August, alongside Lewis’s anticipated strategic plans for the business. The Johnnie Walker and Guinness owner has been undergoing a series of leadership changes since Lewis took charge in January. Last month, Diageo appointed the former chief people officer of Sanofi to head its group HR operations, while UK managing director Barry O’Sullivan was reported to be stepping down amid speculation of workforce reductions.

Wasan’s appointment signals Diageo’s intent to reinforce its leadership bench in Asia-Pacific, a region critical to the company’s growth ambitions. His extensive experience in consumer goods and regional business leadership is expected to play a key role in shaping Diageo’s strategy across diverse markets.

As Diageo prepares to outline its future direction, Wasan’s arrival adds further weight to Lewis’s leadership reshuffle, positioning the company to navigate both global competition and regional opportunities in the dynamic spirits industry.
