PepsiCo’s Lay’s has unveiled Hot Chips Style Asian Fiery Chilli, inspired by South India’s love for bold, chilli-forward flavours. The campaign by Leo India reimagines everyday staples like curd rice, rasam rice and lemon rice as fun snacking occasions. Available in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in ₹5, ₹10 and ₹25 packs.

PepsiCo India has introduced a new regional innovation under its Lay’s portfolio, bringing a fiery twist to the country’s snacking culture. The launch of Lay’s Hot Chips Style Asian Fiery Chilli is a bold nod to South India’s enduring love affair with chilli-forward flavours, designed to resonate with consumers who crave intensity and spice in their everyday food experiences.

The campaign, crafted by Leo India, cleverly positions the product as a playful companion to South Indian staples such as curd rice, rasam rice and lemon rice. By turning these familiar dishes into fresh snacking occasions, Lay’s is tapping into the cultural heartbeat of the region, where chilli is not just an ingredient but a defining flavour identity. The creative approach underscores Lay’s ability to blend global brand equity with local culinary traditions, ensuring relevance and resonance in a market where taste preferences are deeply rooted in heritage.

The product rollout spans Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, with packs priced at ₹5, ₹10 and ₹25 to ensure accessibility across demographics. This tiered pricing strategy reflects PepsiCo’s intent to capture both impulse buyers and regular snackers, while reinforcing Lay’s positioning as a versatile brand that adapts to diverse consumption occasions.

The introduction of Hot Chips Style Asian Fiery Chilli also signals PepsiCo’s broader innovation-first mindset in India. By localising global formats and infusing them with regional flavour cues, the company is not only expanding its portfolio but also strengthening its competitive edge in a market where snacking is increasingly shaped by cultural nuances and lifestyle shifts. The fiery chilli variant is expected to appeal strongly to younger consumers, who often seek bold, adventurous flavours that break away from the ordinary.

Industry observers note that the campaign’s focus on everyday South Indian dishes is a strategic move to embed Lay’s more deeply into daily routines, rather than positioning it solely as a party or leisure snack. This approach could help the brand carve out new consumption occasions, thereby expanding its footprint in a region that has traditionally favoured homegrown snack formats.

With this launch, Lay’s continues to reinforce its reputation as a brand that listens to consumers and adapts to their evolving tastes. The Asian Fiery Chilli variant is not just another flavour addition; it is a cultural statement that celebrates South India’s bold palate while offering a modern, packaged alternative to traditional spice-laden snacks.

As PepsiCo India builds momentum with such regional innovations, the fiery chilli campaign is poised to spark conversations and cravings alike, ensuring Lay’s remains a household name across the southern states.
