Telstra has launched ‘Happy Internetting,’ a campaign celebrating Australians’ diverse online habits. Created with Bear Meets Eagle On Fire, Dave Arcade and Mathematic, it features playful films and fibre upgrades. By focusing on people rather than technology, Telstra highlights the passions and communities that make the internet central to everyday life.

Telstra has unveiled a new campaign for its home internet services, celebrating the diverse ways Australians spend their time online. Branded ‘Happy Internetting,’ the initiative shifts focus from technical specifications to the human experiences that make the internet a vital part of daily life.

With Australians consuming billions of gigabytes of data at home each month, Telstra’s campaign pays tribute to the countless digital habits that define modern living. To support the launch, the company is offering free fibre upgrades, ensuring speed and reliability for the wide spectrum of ‘internetters.’

Created by Bear Meets Eagle On Fire in collaboration with illustrator Dave Arcade and VFX/animation studio Mathematic, the campaign debuts with ten playful 15-second films. Each vignette highlights a different type of internet user: from “button mashers” immersed in gaming, to “meme fiends” endlessly scrolling, and “rabbit holers” diving deep into online spirals. The films capture the humour and quirks of everyday digital behaviour, presenting them in a distinct visual style that blends illustration and animation.

The rollout extends beyond film, with executions across out-of-home advertising, social media, and retail spaces. By spotlighting amusing internet insights and behaviours, Telstra aims to connect with audiences on a more personal level, celebrating the passions and communities that thrive online.

Alita McMenamin, Head of Brand and Marketing Communications at Telstra, explained the thinking behind the campaign: “In a category focused on speed and data we chose to focus on something completely different. People aren’t excited about download speeds, they are excited about what they can do online. Happy Internetting shifts the spotlight from technology to the people, celebrating their passions, quirky interests and the communities that make the internet such a fun and important part of daily life.”

Micah Walker, Chief Creative Officer at Bear Meets Eagle On Fire, added: “Everyone has their own internetting interests and quirks that make service and performance matter to them. We just wanted to highlight those in a way that felt celebratory, and then offer them deals and upgrades that feel more tailored to those interests.”

The campaign is not only a creative showcase but also a customer-focused initiative. By offering fibre upgrades, Telstra is reinforcing its commitment to providing the infrastructure that supports Australians’ digital lifestyles. Further acts of support and partnership under the ‘Happy Internetting’ programme are set to roll out over the next six months, ensuring the campaign remains fresh and relevant.

In celebrating the everyday internetter, Telstra has crafted a campaign that resonates with the realities of modern online life. Rather than dwelling on technical jargon, it embraces the humour, creativity and community that make the internet indispensable. ‘Happy Internetting’ is both a tribute to the billions of gigabytes consumed each month and a reminder that behind every click, scroll or stream lies a uniquely human story.
