MTR Foods has launched ‘India’s Sweetest Language’, a festive campaign that explores how sweets convey emotions and mark occasions in Indian households. The initiative spans an illustrated book, a digital film and an expanded sweets portfolio, all built around the idea that sweets speak a language of their own.
The book collects words and phrases linked to sharing sweets across Indian languages, using limericks and everyday festive situations to explain their meaning. Expressions such as ‘Ek aur lo’, ‘Olleyadagali’ and ‘Aavta rehjo’ feature prominently, capturing the warmth of offering another bite or inviting someone to return. The accompanying digital film follows a young girl who discovers the book at a community gathering, where the phrases come alive through moments of care, blessings and family reunions.
Coinciding with the campaign, MTR has expanded its sweets range. Alongside classics such as Mysore Pak, Gulab Jamun and Coconut Burfi, the brand is introducing offerings made with ghee, jaggery and dates, as well as new formats including a portion-controlled Mysore Pak. Anupam Nair, chief marketing and growth officer, said sweets become a universal language of affection during festivals, often expressing “I care for you” without words.
Soumabha Nandi of Social Panga, the creative agency behind the campaign, explained that the behaviour already existed and the team simply recognised it as a language. The book was created to document this vocabulary and extend the idea beyond the film. The campaign will also include creator collaborations, digital storytelling and on-ground activations, reinforcing MTR’s philosophy of celebrating food as a cultural touchstone.
