La Libertad Studio’s Malli, a Georgian tkemali sauce made with wild plums, embraces minimalism in both recipe and design. With a bold slanted logotype, controlled supporting details and distinct colour palettes for flavours, the packaging rejects clutter, offering calm authority in a category often dominated by excess.

Malli, the Georgian tkemali sauce crafted by La Libertad Studio, is a study in restraint and clarity. Made with wild plums, the sauce is tart, savoury and bright, stripped of oil, additives or anything extraneous. Its purity of flavour is matched by a packaging design that deliberately avoids the clutter typical of the category.

Working with Magla, the brief was unambiguous: calm, minimal, controlled. In a sector where exuberant graphics and rustic nostalgia often dominate, Malli’s identity is pared back to essentials. The logotype carries the weight of recognition, a slanted, compact wordmark bold enough to be legible from across the aisle. It sits on a flat field of colour, unchallenged by competing elements, ensuring the brand speaks with clarity and confidence.

Supporting details are carefully orchestrated into a single strip at the top of the pack. Tartness dots, a harvest mark and a scripted Super Food badge are aligned with precision, their presence subtle rather than overwhelming. This disciplined arrangement reinforces the sense of control, while still signalling the sauce’s qualities and provenance.

Two flavours are distinguished through distinct colour palettes, each chosen to evoke the natural vibrancy of the wild plums from which the sauce is made. The hues are not decorative flourishes but functional identifiers, guiding the consumer with ease while maintaining the brand’s minimalist ethos.

The overall effect is one of quiet authority. Malli’s packaging does not shout; it asserts itself through composure. By stripping away excess, La Libertad Studio has created a design that mirrors the product’s own philosophy: nothing that doesn’t belong. In doing so, it challenges the conventions of sauce packaging, proving that simplicity can be as impactful as ornamentation.

Malli is more than a condiment; it is a statement about authenticity and discipline. Its design demonstrates how language and form can converge to create recognition without noise, and how a product rooted in tradition can be presented with modern clarity. In a crowded aisle, Malli stands apart not by competing for attention, but by commanding it through restraint.
