Independent Melbourne agency Town Square has announced the appointment of Matt Altis as head of media, marking a pivotal step in the agency’s expansion strategy. Altis, formerly of PHD, joins to provide strategic media and product leadership, reinforcing Town Square’s integrated offering at a time of rapid growth and momentum.
The appointment follows a string of significant media pitch wins, with Altis the first of several hires planned to expand the agency’s media team in the coming months. His remit will encompass planning, process optimisation, operational excellence and the pursuit of innovative media opportunities across Town Square’s client portfolio, with a clear focus on driving commercial results.
Danielle Moeller, founder and director at Town Square, said the appointment reflects the agency’s commitment to strengthening its media capabilities: “We’ve had a significant number of media pitch wins recently, which is a massive validation of the direction we are heading. Our full service clients understand the benefit of having media and creative working together, fuelling better results for their business. It means we’re closer to our client, we understand the commitments they’ve made to their own business, and everyone is focused on delivering client outcomes rather than protecting competing agency P&Ls. Hiring Matt is a major step in bolstering our capabilities and our investment into media. He has a brilliant strategic mind and the exact experience we need to take our integrated creative and media offering even further.”
Altis brings more than 15 years of experience leading multi-million-dollar clients, with the majority of his career spent at PHD, alongside time at Initiative. Most recently, he served as business director for the Asahi Group at PHD, where he was responsible for strategic portfolio planning and advising media and investment decisions. His track record includes leading media strategy for major blue-chip brands such as Energy Australia, ANZ, Priceline and Porsche.
Speaking about his new role, Altis said: “Town Square has a track record of delivering results for clients for more than 20 years, yet it still has a genuine challenger mindset, that’s what drew me to the agency. Add to that an exceptional client roster and a model where media and creative already work hand in hand, and it was an easy decision. It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining, with the agency experiencing a period of significant growth, particularly across media, and there is a genuine, infectious momentum in the building. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to build on that success and I look forward to bringing my experience in driving results for our clients and playing a part in this next chapter of the agency’s growth.”
Town Square’s expansion underscores its ambition to strengthen its integrated creative and media offering, with Altis’s appointment signalling a new phase in the agency’s evolution.
