Abhinav Bhargava has been appointed Global Brand Manager – Dettol at Reckitt, marking his transition into the Personal Care category after seven years with the company. Previously handling Home Hygiene brands Lizol and Harpic, Bhargava expressed gratitude for his journey and excitement about leading Dettol’s global brand responsibilities.

Abhinav Bhargava has taken on a new role as Global Brand Manager – Dettol at Reckitt, a move that signals both a personal milestone and a strategic transition into the Personal Care category. Announcing the appointment on LinkedIn, Bhargava shared his enthusiasm for the opportunity and reflected on the journey that has brought him to this point.

“After working across the Home Hygiene portfolio with Lizol and Harpic, I’m excited to take on a new role as Global Brand Manager – Dettol at Reckitt and make the move into Personal Care,” his post read, underscoring both his gratitude and anticipation for what lies ahead.

Bhargava has been associated with Reckitt for over seven years, building a career that has spanned some of the company’s most recognised household brands. His work across the Home Hygiene portfolio saw him manage Lizol and Harpic, two staples in Reckitt’s cleaning and disinfectant line-up. In these roles, he contributed to brand growth and consumer engagement strategies, gaining valuable insights into category management and the dynamics of hygiene-focused marketing.

The new appointment places Bhargava at the helm of Dettol’s global brand responsibilities, a significant step given the brand’s stature as one of Reckitt’s flagship names in health and hygiene. Dettol, with its long-standing reputation for trust and protection, sits at the intersection of consumer health and personal care, offering Bhargava a platform to shape brand strategy on a global scale.

In his announcement, Bhargava expressed appreciation for the colleagues and mentors who have supported him throughout his journey at Reckitt. He acknowledged the learnings gained from his time in Home Hygiene and emphasised his eagerness to apply those experiences to the challenges and opportunities within Personal Care.

The move reflects a broader trend within multinational companies of nurturing internal talent and enabling cross-category transitions. For Reckitt, Bhargava’s appointment reinforces its commitment to strengthening leadership across categories that are central to consumer wellbeing. For Bhargava, it represents both continuity and change: continuity in his association with Reckitt, and change in the scope and scale of his responsibilities.

As he steps into the role, Bhargava’s journey highlights the evolving pathways within global FMCG organisations, where brand managers are increasingly tasked with balancing heritage and innovation. His leadership of Dettol will be closely watched, not only for the strategies he deploys but also for how he navigates the brand’s global positioning in an era of heightened consumer focus on health and hygiene.
