Sri Lanka’s automobile industry celebrated excellence and innovation at a prestigious awards ceremony featuring emotional tributes, elegant performances and 58 honours recognising industry achievement. The event highlighted leadership, integrity and future growth while inspiring the next generation of professionals to pursue careers in the country’s evolving automotive sector.
Sri Lanka’s automobile industry came together in spectacular fashion for an evening of glamour, recognition and inspiration as leading figures from across the sector gathered for one of the country’s most prestigious awards ceremonies.
The event opened in dazzling style with guests arriving along a sweeping red carpet, setting the tone for an occasion that celebrated both achievement and sophistication. Women adorned in glittering gowns and elegantly draped sarees filled the venue with colour and elegance, while gentlemen in perfectly tailored tuxedos added to the evening’s refined atmosphere. A live cello performance provided a graceful backdrop as industry leaders, innovators and pioneers assembled under one roof.
This year’s ceremony also marked a significant milestone with the introduction of a fully digital ticketing and seating system. Developed specifically for the awards programme, the platform managed every stage of the event, from applications and evaluations to guest coordination and final presentations, ensuring a seamless experience throughout the evening.
Chairman Eng. Ravith Silva officially opened proceedings with a stirring welcome address, describing the ceremony as a tribute to the “blood, sweat and tears” of countless individuals and organisations that have shaped Sri Lanka’s automobile industry. He emphasised that the awards represented the country’s first and only programme to recognise the entire automobile ecosystem, honouring innovation, craftsmanship, leadership and commitment across every aspect of the sector.
The evening’s Chief Guest, Hon. Sunil Hadunhetti MP, delivered a keynote speech that resonated strongly with the audience, praising the industry’s resilience and contribution to national progress.
One of the most memorable moments of the night came with the unveiling of the awards trophy. Through a captivating presentation by Danu Istamby, guests were taken on an emotional journey through the legacy of the Durr Brothers, whose vision and influence inspired the trophy’s design and significance. The tribute struck a powerful chord among attendees and served as a reminder of the pioneers who helped shape the industry.
Adding vibrancy and spectacle to the evening was a synchronised dance performance by a large troupe of dancers, celebrating the spirit of innovation and progress that continues to define the sector.
A total of 58 awards were presented during the ceremony, recognising exceptional achievement, leadership and impact within the automobile industry. Winners proudly took to the stage to accept their honours while guests enjoyed a fine four-course dinner befitting the occasion.
Speaking on the broader significance of the awards, Chairman Silva said the programme would help inspire a new generation to pursue careers within the industry. He noted that young people would see a sector that not only rewards excellence but actively celebrates dedication and innovation.
The ceremony concluded on an emotional note with the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award, honouring individuals whose enduring contribution and integrity have left a lasting legacy. A moving duet performance of Simply the Best by two young vocalists brought the formal proceedings to a memorable close.
As celebrations continued with an after-party hosted by the popular Flame Band, the evening stood as more than just a celebration of success. Guided by the motto “Honouring Legends, Inspiring Futures”, it reflected an industry determined to recognise achievement while inspiring the next generation of automotive leaders in Sri Lanka.
