Coca-Cola has launched its global campaign ‘The World Will Wait’ in Thailand, using surreal Thai humour to highlight the importance of being present during shared meals. Through two locally produced films, the brand invites audiences to pause everyday distractions, reconnect with loved ones and rediscover the joy of food and togetherness.
Coca-Cola is extending its global campaign ‘The World Will Wait’ to Thailand with a distinctly local creative interpretation that celebrates the joy of being fully present during shared meals. The initiative responds to a familiar modern tension: even when people sit down with family and friends, the demands of the day often linger in their minds.
At the heart of the campaign lies a simple idea — the world will wait while we share a meal. To bring this message to life, Coca-Cola has released two new films that use surreal, deadpan humour to show how easily the working day can intrude on the dinner table.
In The Dentist, a young man joins his girlfriend for hot pot but remains mentally absorbed in his dental clinic. Familiar sounds and gestures from his job begin to appear at the table, until a shared Coca-Cola moment draws him back to the meal and the person across from him. In The Cable Guy, a utility worker imagines himself repairing overhead cables while sitting with his daughter at a countryside meal. A Coca-Cola shared between them helps him return to the present.
Kitisak Manoratana, Senior Marketing Director at Coca-Cola Thailand, explained: “Shared meals have an important place in everyday life in Thailand, but it is not always easy to leave the pressures and distractions of the day behind. Through ‘The World Will Wait’, Coca-Cola is encouraging people to pause, be present and rediscover the simple joy of enjoying food with the people who matter.”
Pete Thasorn Boonyanate, Chief Creative Officer at Ogilvy Thailand, added: “We wanted to express the global campaign idea through storytelling that feels genuinely local. Thai humour often finds something unexpected in familiar situations, so we used surreal scenarios to show how easily the working day can follow someone to the table. The films offer a light-hearted reminder to leave those distractions behind and return to the people and the meal in front of us.”
Created by WPP Open X, led by Ogilvy and supported by WPP Production, the campaign will run across billboards, social media and creator collaborations. Produced in Bangkok by Factory01, the films embody a distinctly Thai sense of humour while reinforcing Coca-Cola’s global invitation to reclaim shared meal moments from modern distractions.
