Perfetti Van Melle has announced the elevation of Karan Budhiraja to Category Head Marketing, effective July 2026. Budhiraja, who joined the company in 2022 as Group Product Manager for Chupa Chups, has steadily risen through the ranks, most recently overseeing Jellies before assuming his latest leadership responsibility.

Perfetti Van Melle, one of the world’s leading confectionery companies, has strengthened its marketing leadership with the elevation of Karan Budhiraja to Category Head Marketing, effective July 2026. The move underscores the company’s commitment to nurturing talent from within and reflects Budhiraja’s consistent trajectory of growth since joining the organisation.

Budhiraja entered Perfetti Van Melle in 2022 as Group Product Manager for Chupa Chups, a role that placed him at the helm of one of the company’s most iconic global brands. His stewardship of Chupa Chups was marked by a focus on innovation and consumer engagement, helping to reinforce the brand’s appeal in a competitive confectionery market.

In 2023, Budhiraja was elevated to Group Product Manager for Jellies, where he took charge of a category that demanded both creative marketing and sharp portfolio management. His leadership in this role was instrumental in driving visibility and growth for Perfetti Van Melle’s jelly offerings, aligning them with evolving consumer preferences and market trends.

The latest appointment to Category Head Marketing represents a natural progression in Budhiraja’s career, recognising his ability to combine brand strategy with executional excellence. It also signals Perfetti Van Melle’s intent to consolidate its marketing leadership as it continues to expand its footprint across categories and geographies.

Industry observers note that Budhiraja’s rise within the company reflects a broader trend of FMCG organisations investing in internal talent pipelines to ensure continuity and sustained brand growth. His experience across diverse product lines within Perfetti Van Melle equips him with a holistic understanding of the company’s portfolio, positioning him to drive integrated marketing strategies that resonate with consumers.

Perfetti Van Melle, known for its strong global brands such as Mentos, Alpenliebe, and Chupa Chups, has consistently emphasised innovation and consumer-centricity in its marketing approach. With Budhiraja now leading category marketing, the company is expected to further strengthen its brand presence in India and beyond, leveraging his expertise in portfolio management and consumer engagement.

Budhiraja’s elevation is not only a testament to his professional achievements but also a reflection of Perfetti Van Melle’s culture of recognising and rewarding talent. As he steps into his new role, the confectionery giant will look to him to spearhead initiatives that enhance brand equity, drive category growth, and cement the company’s leadership in the market.
