Lenovo has named Sumir Bhatia as Chief Commercial Officer for Asia Pacific, succeeding Ivan Cheung who retires in June. Bhatia, formerly President of Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Group in the region, will report to Amar Babu, President, Asia Pacific, overseeing diverse markets across APAC.

Global technology giant Lenovo has announced the appointment of Sumir Bhatia as Chief Commercial Officer for the Asia Pacific region, a move that underscores the company’s focus on strengthening its leadership across diverse and competitive markets. Bhatia will oversee operations spanning Australia, Hong Kong SAR China, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia, reporting directly to Amar Babu, President, Asia Pacific.

His appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Lenovo, following the planned retirement of Ivan Cheung in June. Cheung, who has served as Vice President and General Manager of Lenovo’s PCs & Smart Devices business and Chief Operating Officer for the APAC region, leaves behind a legacy of steady growth and operational excellence. The transition marks a significant leadership shift as Lenovo continues to expand its footprint in one of the most dynamic technology markets in the world.

Bhatia brings with him a wealth of experience from his previous role as President of Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) in Asia Pacific. In that capacity, he spearheaded the growth of Lenovo’s smart infrastructure business, driving sales, product innovation, and go-to-market strategies across the region. His leadership was instrumental in positioning Lenovo as a key player in the enterprise technology space, particularly in areas such as cloud, edge computing, and data centre solutions.

Industry observers note that Bhatia’s appointment reflects Lenovo’s ambition to integrate its commercial operations more closely with its infrastructure business, leveraging synergies to deliver comprehensive solutions to customers. His track record of building strong regional teams and fostering innovation is expected to play a crucial role in Lenovo’s next phase of growth.

As the Asia Pacific region continues to be a critical driver of global technology demand, Lenovo’s leadership transition signals its intent to remain agile and competitive. With Bhatia at the helm of commercial operations, the company is poised to strengthen its market presence, deepen customer engagement, and accelerate its push towards smarter technology for all.
