N. Murali has been appointed Chairman of The Hindu Group Publishing Private Limited for a three-year term. With over 56 years of experience in newspaper management and financial stewardship, Murali’s leadership underscores his enduring legacy at The Hindu Group and his deep commitment to journalism, publishing, and media development.

The Hindu Group Publishing Private Limited (THGPPL) has announced the appointment of veteran media leader N. Murali as Chairman of its Board of Directors for a three-year term. This marks a significant milestone for the organisation, as Murali brings more than five decades of unparalleled expertise in newspaper management, business operations, and financial stewardship to the role.

Murali’s association with The Hindu Group dates back to 1969, during which he has played a pivotal role in shaping the growth and evolution of one of India’s most respected media organisations. His distinguished career within the group has seen him hold several key leadership positions, including General Manager, Joint Managing Director, Managing Director of Kasturi & Sons Limited, and Chairman of Kasturi & Sons Limited, the holding company of The Hindu Group of Publications. He has also served as a Director of both THGPPL and Kasturi & Sons Limited, reinforcing his deep institutional knowledge and commitment to the organisation’s values.

Beyond his corporate leadership, Murali has made extensive contributions to the wider media industry. He has held prominent roles with the Indian Newspaper Society (INS), Audit Bureau of Circulations, National Readership Studies Council, Advertising Standards Council of India, Press Institute of India-RIND, IFRA, World Association of Newspapers (WAN), and the Media Development Foundation, which administers the Asian College of Journalism (ACJ). His involvement in these institutions reflects his dedication to advancing media standards, readership accountability, and journalistic integrity both in India and globally.

Murali’s appointment as Chairman underscores a legacy of leadership rooted in institutional loyalty, strategic foresight, and a commitment to nurturing journalism as a cornerstone of democracy.
