SAP has launched a new data centre in Mumbai, expanding its global infrastructure and reinforcing its commitment to India. The facility enhances SAP Business Network Commerce Automation, enabling secure, compliant data exchange and supporting cloud-based procurement and supply chain operations, while complementing centres in Europe, the US, and Saudi Arabia.

SAP has opened a new data centre in Mumbai, strengthening its global infrastructure network and underscoring its commitment to India’s rapidly evolving digital economy. The facility is designed to enhance the data federation capabilities of SAP Business Network Commerce Automation, enabling businesses and their trading partners to exchange data seamlessly across regions while adhering to local data residency requirements.

The new centre complements SAP’s existing infrastructure in Europe, the US, and Saudi Arabia, creating a more resilient and distributed network that supports global operations. By situating a facility in Mumbai, SAP is addressing the growing demand for secure, compliant, and scalable cloud services in India, a market where regulatory frameworks increasingly emphasise data localisation and operational transparency.

SAP highlighted that the Mumbai data centre will play a pivotal role in supporting cloud-based procurement and supply chain operations. These services are critical for enterprises navigating complex supply chains, ensuring that transactions and data flows remain secure, compliant, and efficient. The centre is expected to help customers meet regulatory requirements while bolstering operational resilience, a priority for businesses managing risk in volatile global markets.

The expansion reflects SAP’s broader strategy of aligning its infrastructure footprint with the needs of high-growth regions. India, with its expanding digital economy, rising enterprise adoption of cloud technologies, and emphasis on regulatory compliance, represents a key market for SAP’s long-term growth. The Mumbai facility is positioned not only as a technical hub but also as a strategic enabler for businesses seeking to modernise procurement and supply chain processes.

By reinforcing its infrastructure in India, SAP is signalling confidence in the country’s role as a global technology and business hub. The move also demonstrates how multinational technology providers are adapting to local regulatory landscapes while maintaining global interoperability. For Indian enterprises, the centre offers the dual advantage of compliance with domestic data laws and access to SAP’s international network, ensuring that operations remain both locally grounded and globally connected.

SAP’s investment in Mumbai is part of a continuing effort to provide customers with secure, scalable, and compliant cloud solutions. As businesses increasingly rely on digital platforms to manage procurement and supply chains, the new data centre is expected to deliver enhanced resilience, regulatory alignment, and operational efficiency, reinforcing India’s position within SAP’s global strategy.
