Neeraj Kumar, Managing Director, India, Suntory Global Spirits, has been inducted as a Keeper of the Quaich at the prestigious Spring 2026 Banquet held on 30 March in Scotland. The accolade, one of the highest honours in the Scotch whisky industry, celebrates Kumar’s influential role in advancing the category across diverse global markets and his enduring commitment to the heritage of Scotch whisky.

The Keepers of the Quaich, an exclusive international society established to recognise outstanding contributions to Scotch whisky, induct only a select few individuals each year. Kumar’s inclusion reflects decades of leadership and dedication to building the stature of Scotch whisky worldwide. His career has been marked by a consistent focus on expanding appreciation for Scotch across key regions including India, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, China and Oceania, markets that have become increasingly vital to the industry’s global growth.

Under Kumar’s stewardship, Scotch whisky has not only strengthened its presence in India but also carved out deeper connections with consumers across the Asia-Pacific. His efforts have been instrumental in positioning Scotch as a symbol of craftsmanship, tradition and cultural resonance, ensuring that its legacy continues to thrive in new and emerging markets.

Speaking on the honour, Kumar expressed both pride and humility. “Being inducted into the Keepers of the Quaich is a deeply meaningful recognition of a journey spent championing Scotch whisky and its heritage across diverse markets,” he said. “It has been a privilege to contribute to building its appreciation across markets like India and the Asia Pacific over time, and this recognition reflects the pride and passion I have in the heritage and craftsmanship of our iconic Scotch portfolio. At Suntory Global Spirits, we pride ourselves on upholding the values of the Scotch industry and bringing its extraordinary craftsmanship to consumers around the world.”

The induction underscores Kumar’s role not only as a business leader but also as a cultural ambassador for Scotch whisky. His work has consistently highlighted the importance of heritage and authenticity, while also adapting to the evolving tastes of consumers in dynamic markets. By balancing tradition with innovation, Kumar has helped Scotch whisky maintain its relevance and prestige in a competitive global landscape.

For Suntory Global Spirits, Kumar’s recognition is also a testament to the company’s commitment to the Scotch category. As one of the world’s leading spirits companies, Suntory has long emphasised the values of craftsmanship and heritage, aligning perfectly with the ethos of the Keepers of the Quaich. Kumar’s induction further strengthens the company’s reputation as a custodian of Scotch whisky’s legacy, while also reinforcing its ambition to expand the category’s reach worldwide.

The Spring 2026 Banquet, attended by industry leaders and distinguished guests, served as a fitting backdrop for Kumar’s induction. It highlighted the enduring global appeal of Scotch whisky and the individuals who have dedicated their careers to ensuring its continued success. For Kumar, the honour marks a milestone in a journey defined by passion, perseverance and an unwavering belief in the power of Scotch whisky to connect cultures and generations.

His induction as a Keeper of the Quaich is not only a personal achievement but also a recognition of the growing importance of India and the Asia-Pacific in shaping the future of Scotch whisky.
