Bugatti has revealed the W16 Mistral “Le Retour du Jeune Prince,” a Sur Mesure one-off inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince. Featuring hand-applied constellations and a silver rose gear shifter, the bespoke hypercar embodies literature, moonlight and imagination, marking a poignant close to Bugatti’s VW era.

Bugatti has once again demonstrated its mastery of bespoke craftsmanship with the unveiling of the W16 Mistral “Le Retour du Jeune Prince,” the latest creation from its Sur Mesure programme. This one-off hypercar is not merely a mechanical marvel but a deeply personal commission that transforms automotive design into storytelling.

As Bugatti prepares to close the chapter on its celebrated Volkswagen era, the French marque continues to elevate the W16 Mistral into a rolling canvas for artistic expression. Earlier this year, standout Sur Mesure commissions such as “La Perle Rare” and the aviation-inspired “Fly Bug” showcased the brand’s ability to blend heritage with imagination. Yet this latest interpretation may be its most poetic to date.

Drawing inspiration from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s timeless novella The Little Prince, the bespoke roadster is conceived as a continuation of the literary classic, penned by the collector himself. Bugatti’s artisans translated this vision into an automotive masterpiece, embedding narrative and symbolism into every detail. From hand-applied star constellations across the bodywork to a 3D-scanned silver rose housed within the gear shifter, the car becomes a vessel of memory, moonlight and meaning.

The W16 Mistral “Le Retour du Jeune Prince” is more than a hypercar—it is a dialogue between literature and engineering, imagination and precision. It reflects Bugatti’s philosophy that true luxury lies not only in performance but in identity, emotion and cultural resonance. By weaving storytelling into design, the marque underscores its ability to craft vehicles that transcend function to become works of art.

This Sur Mesure creation stands as a fitting tribute to Bugatti’s legacy, embodying both the technical brilliance of the W16 platform and the creative spirit of its patrons. As the brand transitions into a new era, “Le Retour du Jeune Prince” reminds us that the most enduring masterpieces are those that speak to the heart as much as to the senses.
