VINCE VAUGHN HEADLINES EA SPORTS’ COMEDIC MADDEN NFL 27 REVEAL

EA SPORTS has unveiled “It’s Your League,” a comedic campaign for Madden NFL 27 starring Vince Vaughn and cover athlete Caleb Williams, the first Chicago Bear to front the franchise. Created by The Rec League, the campaign blends humour, football culture and new Franchise Mode features ahead of the August launch.

EA SPORTS™ has launched “It’s Your League,” a bold new campaign for Madden NFL 27 that fuses comedy, football culture and gameplay innovation. Fronted by actor Vince Vaughn and featuring Caleb Williams, the Chicago Bears quarterback who becomes the first in franchise history to grace the cover, the campaign sets the stage for the game’s release later this summer.

Created by The Rec League, the campaign casts Vaughn as a hyper-confident Bears fan whose Madden decisions ripple across his own version of the NFL. In his imagined league, Vaughn is general manager, coach and even part-time quarterback, much to the frustration of rivals. The premise cleverly mirrors Madden NFL 27’s enhanced Franchise Mode, where player choices—from trades to draft strategies—carry league-wide consequences.

The hero film, directed by Trent Ubben and Jack Jensen, was shot inside the Bears’ Halas Hall practice facility. It opens with Vaughn in the team’s film room, explaining the decisions behind his Madden championship success. His improvisational style drives the narrative, with Williams positioned as the perfect cover athlete to embody the campaign’s theme of originality and control.

The film is rich with football-culture references and cameos designed to delight fans. Appearances include Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Micah Parsons, Yung Gravy, Kam Patterson, Sketch, Mina Kimes, and the Ringer Fantasy Football Show hosts Danny Heifetz, Danny Kelly and Craig Horlbeck. This layering of personalities underscores EA SPORTS’ ambition to make the reveal more than a product launch—it is entertainment.

Josh Kline, Group Creative Director at EA SPORTS, explained the strategy: “We wanted this year’s reveal to give players a fuller look at what’s coming in Madden NFL 27 all at once. Vince, with his incredible resume of sports comedy films, was the perfect fit. ‘It’s Your League’ brings to life the fantasy that fans experience in Madden: being in charge of everything from the front office to the field.”

The campaign was built specifically for Vaughn, a lifelong Bears fan whose fast-talking, improvisational humour anchors the concept. Jack Jensen of The Rec League noted: “The Madden reveal already has built-in anticipation, so the challenge was making the campaign feel worthy of that energy. Vince gave us the perfect way in: a fan who takes the idea of ‘It’s Your League’ to its most extreme conclusion.”

Ubben added that authenticity was key: “We had unprecedented access to the Bears’ facilities, which gave us the ability to build a narrative that feels both authentic and absurd. Vince’s improv brought unhinged moments we shaped into relevant narrative scenes, completing the film’s balance of comedy and realism.”

Blending live action, Madden gameplay and cultural humour, “It’s Your League” marks the first phase of EA SPORTS’ Madden NFL 27 campaign. With additional creative work set to roll out around the game’s official launch in August, the campaign positions Madden not just as a game, but as a cultural event where fans can truly make the league their own.
