Vietnam’s GSM – Green SM has entered India’s ride-hailing market with an all-electric fleet in Delhi NCR, powered by VINFAST Limo Green vehicles. Backed by Vingroup and billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, the company directly owns and manages cars and drivers, promising safety, service quality, and sustainability in a competitive sector.

Vietnam-based mobility company GSM – Green SM has officially launched its all-electric ride-hailing service in India, beginning operations in the Delhi NCR region. The move marks a significant expansion for the company, which is backed by Vingroup and founded by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, as it enters its fifth international market.

Unlike the aggregator-led models that dominate India’s ride-hailing landscape, Green SM operates on a fully owned fleet model. Its vehicles, VINFAST Limo Green electric cars, are directly managed by the company, along with the drivers. This approach allows Green SM to exercise greater control over safety standards, service quality, and sustainability goals, setting it apart from competitors such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido.

The company’s entry into India comes at a time when the ride-hailing sector is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by rising consumer demand for cleaner, more reliable mobility solutions. By committing to an all-electric fleet, Green SM positions itself as a challenger brand that not only competes on convenience but also aligns with India’s broader push towards sustainable urban transport.

Pham Nhat Vuong, Vietnam’s richest man and the visionary behind Vingroup, has consistently championed electric mobility through VINFAST, the automotive arm that supplies Green SM’s vehicles. The VINFAST Limo Green cars deployed in India are designed to deliver premium comfort while reducing emissions, reinforcing the company’s mission to combine innovation with environmental responsibility.

The decision to launch in Delhi NCR reflects both the scale of the market and the urgency of addressing pollution and congestion in one of India’s busiest metropolitan regions. By offering a service that is both eco-friendly and professionally managed, Green SM aims to attract urban commuters who value reliability and sustainability.

Industry observers note that Green SM’s model could disrupt the existing dynamics of India’s ride-hailing sector. Ola and Uber have long relied on driver-partner networks, which provide flexibility but often raise concerns about service consistency and accountability. Green SM’s direct ownership of vehicles and drivers introduces a new paradigm, one that could appeal to customers seeking higher standards of safety and service.

The company has announced that its expansion in India will be phased, guided by customer demand and market response. This measured approach suggests that Green SM is keen to build a sustainable presence rather than pursue aggressive growth at the expense of quality.

As India’s mobility ecosystem evolves, the arrival of Green SM underscores the increasing global interest in the country’s urban transport market. With its distinctive fleet model, strong backing from Vingroup, and commitment to sustainability, Green SM is poised to become a noteworthy competitor in the race to redefine ride-hailing in India.
