HYUNDAI I20 MAKES GLOBAL DEBUT IN BRAZIL WITH ASPIRATIONAL CAMPAIGN

Hyundai has launched the new i20 in Brazil, marking its global debut with a campaign by INNOCEAN Brazil under the concept “The Upgrade You’ve Been Dreaming Of.” Positioned between the HB20 and Creta, the locally produced model blends hatchback practicality with SUV traits, reflecting consumer aspirations for progress and achievement.

Hyundai has unveiled its latest model, the new i20, with Brazil chosen as the first market worldwide to receive the car. Developed and manufactured at the company’s Piracicaba plant in São Paulo, the i20 represents Hyundai’s third locally produced model and is positioned strategically between the HB20 and the Creta. The launch is accompanied by a wide-reaching campaign created by INNOCEAN Brazil, built around the concept “New Hyundai i20. The Upgrade You’ve Been Dreaming Of.”

The campaign spans broadcast television, digital platforms, social media, out-of-home advertising, magazines, and special projects, ensuring the new model’s presence across multiple touchpoints. More than a product introduction, the campaign is designed to resonate with consumers entering new stages in their personal and professional lives, positioning the i20 as a symbol of progress and achievement. Hyundai’s messaging emphasises that choosing the i20 is not merely a practical decision but a statement of ambition, reflecting the model’s promise of delivering a genuine upgrade within its segment.

The i20 itself blends the practicality of a hatchback with the defining characteristics of an SUV, offering one of the largest interiors in its class and generous cargo capacity. Built on Hyundai’s new platform, the vehicle incorporates advanced technology, including a 12.3-inch integrated digital display and instrument cluster. It also features what Hyundai describes as the most comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) package available in the market, underscoring the brand’s commitment to safety and innovation.

The campaign’s creative execution further reinforces the theme of progress and evolution. Produced by Zohar Cinema, the commercial was filmed over four days and employed an unconventional set piece: aircraft components were used to construct several scenes, visually symbolising advancement and aspiration. This bold creative choice aligns with the campaign’s narrative of moving forward and achieving new milestones, while also distinguishing the i20’s launch from more conventional automotive advertising.

By selecting Brazil for the global debut, Hyundai underscores the importance of the market in its international strategy. The i20 is tailored to meet the needs of Brazilian consumers, offering a balance of practicality, technology, and aspirational appeal. The campaign’s focus on personal growth and achievement reflects a broader cultural shift, where vehicles are increasingly positioned not just as modes of transport but as markers of lifestyle and progress.

With the i20, Hyundai aims to capture consumers seeking a car that represents both functionality and aspiration. The campaign’s message, “The Upgrade You’ve Been Dreaming Of,” encapsulates this ambition, presenting the i20 as more than a new model—it is a symbol of advancement, designed to accompany drivers into the next chapter of their lives.
