Maharani Wedding Collections set a world record on 2 August 2026 at Forum Kochi by creating the world’s first and largest saree pookkalam. Using over 2,100 silk sarees across 2,000 square feet, the installation celebrated womanhood and was certified by the Universal Records Forum, blending tradition with innovation.
Maharani Wedding Collections from Thodupuzha etched its name into history by creating the world’s first and largest saree pookkalam at Forum Kochi. The extraordinary floral-style carpet design, spread across 2,000 square feet, was crafted using more than 2,100 vibrant silk and Kanchipuram silk sarees. Conceived by the Maharani team and executed by renowned artist Da Vinci Suresh, the installation was certified by the Universal Records Forum (URF), marking a global milestone in creative artistry.
The event was not merely a spectacle of colour and craftsmanship but a symbolic celebration of womanhood. Organised ahead of the Onam season, the saree pookkalam embodied the spirit, strength and resilience of women, transforming traditional motifs into a contemporary record-breaking achievement. Visitors to Forum Kochi witnessed a fusion of heritage and innovation, where sarees—long considered emblems of grace and identity—were reimagined into a collective artwork of monumental scale.
The recognition by URF underscored the uniqueness of the feat, positioning Maharani Wedding Collections as a pioneer in blending fashion, tradition and cultural symbolism. For the brand, the record was more than a triumph of design; it was a statement of empowerment, urging communities to celebrate women not just through rituals but through bold, creative expressions. As Onam festivities approach, the saree pookkalam stands as a vibrant reminder that tradition can be both honoured and reinvented, weaving together artistry, resilience and pride in equal measure.
