Sony Entertainment Television has unveiled a rap-led promo for the 18th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, featuring host Amitabh Bachchan in a striking new avatar. Styled in a white fur coat, sunglasses and gold chains, Bachchan delivers a rap performance underscoring the campaign’s theme of applied intelligence.

Sony Entertainment Television has launched a bold new campaign for the 18th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), with host Amitabh Bachchan stepping into an unexpected role as a rap performer. The promo, titled Sochna Padega, presents the legendary actor in a strikingly unconventional look, donning a white fur coat, dark sunglasses and layered gold chains as he delivers a rap across a series of stylised sets.

The creative departure signals a fresh approach to the long-running quiz show, which has been a fixture of Indian television since its inception. By embracing rap culture, the campaign aims to connect with younger audiences while reinforcing the programme’s central message: success depends not merely on access to information but on the ability to think critically and apply knowledge effectively. The theme of applied intelligence is woven into the lyrics and visuals, positioning KBC as more than just a test of memory—it is a celebration of reasoning, problem-solving and intellectual agility.

The promo’s audacious styling and Bachchan’s charismatic delivery have already sparked conversations across social media, with fans praising the veteran actor’s willingness to experiment and reinvent himself. His transformation into a rap persona underscores the show’s enduring relevance, proving that even after nearly two decades, KBC continues to evolve with the times.

Season 18 premiered on 10 August on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV, bringing with it a line-up of celebrity contestants including Aamir Khan, Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. Their participation adds star power to the season, ensuring that the blend of knowledge, entertainment and glamour remains intact. The presence of such high-profile figures reflects the show’s stature as a cultural phenomenon, where the pursuit of knowledge is celebrated alongside the thrill of competition.

For Sony Entertainment Television, the campaign represents a strategic move to refresh the brand identity of KBC while staying true to its core values. By marrying the gravitas of Amitabh Bachchan with the energy of rap, the channel has crafted a promo that is both surprising and memorable. It highlights the enduring appeal of the show while signalling its readiness to engage with new generations of viewers.

As KBC 18 unfolds, the rap-led campaign sets the tone for a season that promises not only challenging questions and life-changing prizes but also a renewed emphasis on the power of applied intelligence. In doing so, it reaffirms the show’s place as one of India’s most iconic television experiences.
