RTD Cocktails Take Centre Stage at UK Festivals

Ready-to-drink cocktails are transforming festival drinking culture in Britain, with spirit-based cans emerging as the standout category. Exclusive partnerships across 27 major festivals this summer reached 2.7 million people, selling over 400,000 RTDs – up 5% year-on-year – as innovation and marketing fuel double-digit global growth

The rise of ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails is reshaping the way festivalgoers enjoy their drinks, with spirit-based cans now firmly established as the go-to choice at live events across the UK. Once dominated by beer and cider, festival bars are increasingly serving high-quality cocktails in convenient formats, reflecting a major shift in consumer preference.

The RTD category has become one of the industry’s biggest strategic priorities, with festivals offering the perfect stage to showcase innovation and accessibility. This summer alone, exclusive spirits partnerships were secured across 27 major UK festivals, reaching audiences of up to 2.7 million people. Sales have been strong, with more than 400,000 RTDs sold to date – a 5% increase on last year’s figures.

Global momentum is equally impressive. The category has delivered double-digit growth, with net sales value rising by 10% in fiscal year 2026. This performance has propelled the company to the position of the world’s second-largest RTD player, underlining the scale of consumer demand for convenient, flavour-forward formats.

Innovation is driving much of this success. At BST Hyde Park, Smirnoff Crush Mango & Peach emerged as the festival’s best-selling RTD, with more than 46,000 cans sold across eight shows. The product’s popularity highlights how bold flavour combinations are resonating with younger audiences seeking excitement and variety in their drinking occasions.

Festival marketing is extending beyond the gates, amplifying the impact of on-site activations. Out-of-home campaigns linked to festival partnerships are reaching millions of UK adults, ensuring that the buzz continues long after the music stops. This integrated approach is helping brands cement their relevance in culture and entertainment, while reinforcing their credentials in convenience and quality.

With RTD cocktails now firmly embedded in the festival experience, the category is redefining how consumers engage with spirits. Accessible, innovative and culturally connected, spirit-based cans are no longer a novelty – they are shaping the future of drinking occasions in Britain and beyond.
