Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has entered into an exclusive agreement with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited to promote and distribute QDENGA, India’s first CDSCO-approved dengue vaccine. Combining Takeda’s scientific expertise with Dr. Reddy’s commercial reach, the collaboration aims to expand vaccine access nationwide, with availability anticipated in the first half of 2027.
Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories today announced a landmark collaboration with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited, through its Indian subsidiary Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India Private Limited, to promote and distribute QDENGA across India. The agreement represents a significant step forward in dengue prevention and vaccine access, positioning India to address one of its most pressing public health challenges.
QDENGA is the first dengue vaccine approved by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) and, subject to completion of regulatory processes, is expected to become available in the first half of 2027. The partnership brings together Takeda’s global expertise in vaccine science and dengue research with Dr. Reddy’s extensive commercial network and healthcare reach across India.
The strategic importance of this collaboration lies in its ability to combine innovation with execution. While regulatory approval provides the pathway, the true measure of success will be determined by whether the vaccine reaches eligible patients in a trusted, affordable and scalable manner. Dr. Reddy’s will play a pivotal role in ensuring equitable private-market access, physician engagement, supply reliability, and pharmacovigilance, while integrating vaccination efforts with broader dengue surveillance, vector-control and community-health initiatives.
India’s dengue burden has long demanded a multi-layered response. Vaccination, when combined with sustained surveillance and prevention measures, offers an important additional tool to reduce the impact of the disease. The introduction of QDENGA is expected to strengthen the country’s arsenal against dengue, complementing existing public health strategies and reinforcing the importance of collaborative approaches between science and commerce.
The next challenge will be execution. Raising disease awareness among communities, engaging physicians to build confidence in the vaccine, and ensuring reliable supply chains will be critical. Equally important will be the integration of vaccination programmes with ongoing public health efforts, including vector-control measures and community-based interventions.
This partnership exemplifies how innovation and commercialisation must work hand in hand to deliver meaningful public health outcomes. By combining Takeda’s scientific leadership with Dr. Reddy’s operational strength, the collaboration sets a precedent for how global expertise and local networks can converge to address urgent healthcare needs.
As India prepares for the rollout of QDENGA, the agreement signals a new chapter in the country’s fight against dengue, underscoring the role of strategic partnerships in transforming scientific breakthroughs into accessible healthcare solutions.
