TEACHER’S UNVEILS FIRST HIGHLAND SINGLE MALT RANGE IN INDIA, SHOWCASING THE SPIRIT BEHIND ITS ICONIC BLENDS

Teacher’s has entered India’s single malt segment with the launch of three Highland Single Malts aged 12, 15 and 18 years. Distilled at The Ardmore Distillery in Scotland, the range highlights the lightly peated malt character that has long defined Teacher’s blended Scotch whiskies, now presented on its own.

Teacher’s, one of the world’s most recognised Scotch whisky brands, has expanded its presence in India with the launch of its first Highland Single Malt range, offering consumers an opportunity to experience the distinctive malt character that has long been at the heart of the brand’s celebrated blended whiskies.

Owned by Suntory Global Spirits, the new collection comprises three expressions: Teacher’s Highland Single Malt 12-Year-Old, 15-Year-Old and 18-Year-Old. The launch marks a significant milestone for the brand, as it is the first time the spirit that has shaped Teacher’s signature style is being released as standalone single malt bottlings.

All three whiskies are distilled and matured at The Ardmore Distillery, located in the Scottish Highlands. Known for its lightly peated character, Ardmore has played a central role in defining the flavour profile of Teacher’s blends for generations. The distillery itself has deep historical ties to the brand, having been built by the Teacher family in 1898 to secure a reliable and consistent supply of high-quality malt whisky.

For whisky enthusiasts, the launch offers a rare opportunity to explore the individual character of Ardmore’s Highland malt without the influence of blending. While Teacher’s has built its global reputation on blended Scotch whiskies, the new range places the spotlight firmly on the distillery’s distinctive style, characterised by a delicate balance of smoke, sweetness and complexity.

The entry-level expression in the range, the 12-Year-Old, has been matured in ex-bourbon casks and combines gentle peat smoke with notes of heather honey, malt sweetness, vanilla and oak. Fruity and spicy undertones contribute additional layers, creating a whisky that remains approachable while retaining a recognisable Highland character.

The 15-Year-Old expression, also matured in ex-bourbon casks, offers greater depth and richness. Aromas and flavours of caramel, vanilla, orange and honey are complemented by warming spices and aromatic smoke, delivering a more complex and rounded profile aimed at experienced whisky drinkers seeking additional maturity.

Sitting at the top of the range is the 18-Year-Old, which receives a finishing period in Oloroso sherry casks. The influence of the sherry wood introduces a richer and more luxurious flavour spectrum, with notes of plums, dates, raisins and treacle toffee alongside hints of ginger and the distillery’s signature aromatic smoke. The result is a whisky that combines Highland peat character with greater sweetness and depth.

The launch comes at a time when India’s appetite for premium and super-premium whiskies continues to grow, with consumers increasingly exploring single malts and seeking authentic stories of provenance and craftsmanship. By introducing the Highland Single Malt range, Teacher’s is giving whisky drinkers direct access to the spirit that has quietly shaped the brand’s identity for more than a century.

For the first time, the smoky Highland malt of Ardmore steps out from behind the blend, taking centre stage as a collection in its own right.
