The BCCI has roped in Muthoot Fincorp as the new title sponsor for Indian cricket until March 2028. The two-year agreement, starting with the ODI series against the West Indies, is valued at ₹4.85 crore per match. The deal replaces IDFC First Bank and underscores cricket’s growing commercial appeal.
The BCCI has announced that Muthoot Fincorp will take over as the title sponsor for Indian cricket, marking a significant commercial partnership that will run until March 2028. The agreement, which begins with India’s home series against the West Indies later this month, is valued at ₹4.85 crore per match, bringing the total deal size to around ₹150 crore across 35 fixtures.
The sponsorship, branded under the name Blue Muthoot, represents a strategic move by the financial services group to strengthen its national presence through cricket, India’s most powerful cultural and sporting platform. The deal follows the conclusion of IDFC First Bank’s tenure as title sponsor, which had been paying ₹4.2 crore per match under a three-year agreement worth ₹235 crore.
Industry insiders note that the BCCI had initially set a base price of ₹4.85 crore per match, which deterred several potential bidders during the tender process. With no competitive bids forthcoming, the board entered direct negotiations with multiple brands, including Google Gemini, Spinny, and SBI Life, before finalising Muthoot Fincorp. This outcome highlights both the resilience of cricket sponsorships and the challenges of meeting ambitious valuation targets in a competitive market.
The timing of the deal is particularly significant as India prepares for a packed home calendar, beginning with three ODIs and five T20Is against the West Indies from 27 September to 17 October. The sponsorship will extend across all international and domestic matches played in India, ensuring Muthoot Fincorp’s visibility in stadiums, broadcasts, and fan experiences.
This partnership also complements the BCCI’s broader sponsorship bouquet, which recently added Campa, SBI Life, and ChatGPT as associate partners for India’s home cricket through 2028. Together, these deals represent a 44% increase in commercial value compared to the previous cycle, underscoring the growing appeal of Indian cricket as a marketing platform.
For Muthoot Fincorp, the association with cricket is expected to reinforce its brand identity as a trusted financial services provider while tapping into the emotional resonance of the sport. The company, part of the larger Muthoot Pappachan Group, has long been associated with grassroots initiatives and community engagement, and this sponsorship marks its most high-profile sporting partnership to date.
As the new era of sponsorship begins, fans can expect to see the Blue Muthoot branding prominently displayed during India’s home fixtures, symbolising the fusion of finance and cricket in a deal that reflects both commercial ambition and cultural significance.
