Fashion Bug has unveiled a newly developed wing at its flagship Colpetty branch, adding over 6,000 square feet of retail space. The expansion enhances customer experience, introduces the SAVAGE streetwear label, and underscores the brand’s continued investment in innovation within Sri Lanka’s dynamic fashion retail landscape.
Strengthening its position in Sri Lanka’s increasingly competitive fashion retail sector, Fashion Bug has officially opened a newly developed wing at its iconic Colpetty branch, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s growth journey and its commitment to delivering an elevated shopping experience.
Established in 1998 as the company’s third outlet and its first venture into Colombo, the Colpetty branch has long stood as Fashion Bug’s flagship store. Over more than three decades, it has transformed into a bustling retail destination, synonymous with trend-forward fashion, innovation, and enduring customer trust. The latest expansion reinforces that legacy while signalling a forward-looking approach to modern retail demands.
The newly introduced wing spans over 6,000 square feet and has been thoughtfully designed to improve convenience and enhance the overall in-store journey. With broader category segmentation and a wider array of contemporary collections, the upgraded space aims to provide shoppers with a more seamless and engaging experience. Expanded parking facilities further address practical considerations, reflecting a holistic approach to customer satisfaction.

Speaking on the significance of the development, Fashion Bug Director Shabier Subian highlighted the symbolic importance of the Colpetty branch. He noted that the store represents both the company’s heritage and its forward momentum, adding that the new wing enables the brand to offer a more refined retail experience with diversified product offerings. Subian also expressed confidence in the resilience of Sri Lanka’s retail industry, positioning the expansion as a strategic investment in its future.
Echoing this sentiment, Deputy General Manager – Marketing and Sales, Dr S. H. M. Faraaz, emphasised the customer-centric philosophy underpinning the project. He explained that decisions were driven by data-led insights and evolving lifestyle trends, with modern consumers increasingly seeking spacious, accessible environments that offer both variety and comfort. The new wing, he said, allows the brand to meet these expectations while enhancing engagement at its flagship location.
The launch event also served as the debut platform for SAVAGE, a bold new unisex streetwear label designed to resonate with a fearless, expressive generation. Characterised by oversized silhouettes, striking graphics, and attitude-driven aesthetics, SAVAGE aims to challenge conventions and celebrate individuality. Anchored by its mantra, “No Rules. Just Drip.”, the label positions itself as more than a fashion line, instead embodying a mindset that encourages youth to embrace identity and break boundaries.
From its modest beginnings in 1994 in Bandarawela, where it was founded with a team of just seven, Fashion Bug has grown into one of Sri Lanka’s leading fashion and lifestyle retailers. Today, the brand is supported by a workforce of over 1,250 employees and a robust island-wide presence.
The expansion of the Colpetty branch stands as a testament to Fashion Bug’s enduring commitment to innovation and its mission to make high-fashion experiences accessible to a broad and evolving customer base, reaffirming its place at the forefront of Sri Lanka’s retail landscape.
