Jameson Irish Whiskey has launched its Triple Triple Chestnut Edition in India, introducing a new expression matured in bourbon, sherry and sweet chestnut casks. Produced at Midleton Distillery in Ireland, the whiskey blends rich chocolate, nutty and fruity notes while retaining Jameson’s signature smoothness, priced at Rs 4,200 in Mumbai.

Jameson Irish Whiskey has expanded its presence in India with the introduction of the Triple Triple Chestnut Edition, a new expression that highlights the brand’s long-standing tradition of triple distillation while exploring a distinctive triple-cask maturation technique. The launch signals the brand’s continued effort to offer innovative whiskey experiences to a growing base of Indian consumers seeking premium international spirits.

Produced at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, the new expression is crafted from a blend of Irish whiskeys matured in three different types of casks—ex-Bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry casks and hand-selected sweet chestnut casks. This unique combination is designed to add depth and complexity to the spirit while maintaining the smooth character that has long defined the Jameson name.

The addition of sweet chestnut wood marks a notable twist in the maturation process. While bourbon and sherry casks are widely used in whiskey production, chestnut wood brings a distinctive profile, contributing rich notes of chocolate and fudge alongside subtle nutty undertones. According to the brand, this maturation approach creates a layered flavour experience that complements Jameson’s signature smoothness rather than overpowering it.

The resulting whiskey delivers a sensory profile that opens with aromas of toffee fudge, vanilla and hazelnut chocolate, balanced by hints of fresh pear and green apple. On the palate, the expression reveals creamy fudge and vanilla flavours supported by gentle nutty notes and mild wood spices. The finish is described as long and balanced, with lingering fruits and spices gradually fading to reveal a subtle interplay between oak and chestnut.

The Triple Triple Chestnut Edition builds on the success of the brand’s earlier Triple Triple release, which was initially launched as a travel retail exclusive. That expression combined ex-Bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks with Málaga wine casks, producing a subtly sweet whiskey with citrus-forward characteristics. The new Chestnut Edition continues the concept of triple-cask maturation but introduces a richer, more indulgent flavour profile shaped by the influence of sweet chestnut wood.

Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman emphasised the significance of the number three in the Jameson tradition. “At Jameson, we’ve known that good things come in threes ever since John Jameson introduced the world to triple-distilled Jameson Irish Whiskey,” he said while discussing the new release. “Jameson Triple Triple Chestnut Edition is no exception to this rule. Our single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys have been further enhanced through a combination of triple cask maturation to create an exciting new taste experience.”

O’Gorman noted that the use of sweet chestnut casks contributes rich chocolate and fudge notes that add an indulgent dimension to the whiskey. At the same time, the blend remains true to the approachable and smooth character that has made Jameson one of the world’s most recognisable Irish whiskey brands.

The expression has already received international recognition for its quality. It recently earned a Gold Medal from the Beverage Tasting Institute, an accolade that highlights the craftsmanship behind the spirit and reinforces the brand’s reputation for producing consistently well-regarded whiskeys.

Bottled at 40 per cent alcohol by volume, the Triple Triple Chestnut Edition is positioned as a premium yet accessible offering within the Jameson portfolio. The brand hopes the release will appeal to both seasoned whiskey enthusiasts and newer drinkers interested in exploring more nuanced flavour profiles.

India has become an increasingly important market for global whiskey brands, driven by rising consumer interest in premium spirits and a growing appreciation for international whiskey styles. Irish whiskey, in particular, has been steadily gaining traction among urban consumers who are eager to experiment beyond traditional Scotch and domestic whiskies.

The introduction of the Triple Triple Chestnut Edition reflects Jameson’s strategy of expanding its product range to meet evolving consumer preferences while maintaining the heritage and craftsmanship associated with Irish whiskey production.

The new expression is currently available in Mumbai with an indicative retail price of Rs 4,200 per bottle. A phased rollout across additional Indian markets is expected in the coming months as the brand seeks to build awareness and demand for the new release.

With its blend of classic Irish whiskey-making techniques and a distinctive chestnut cask influence, the Triple Triple Chestnut Edition represents another step in Jameson’s ongoing exploration of flavour innovation, offering Indian consumers a fresh interpretation of the brand’s signature smooth style.
