Marianna Tomaselli collaborated with the Italian Olympic Committee to design limited-edition Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Rings Pasta packaging. Her atmospheric illustrations captured the drama of winter sport, from skiers and snowboarders to ski jumpers. The project, celebrating medal-winners with snowy Italian scenes, earned a Silver Lion at Cannes Lions 2026.

Marianna Tomaselli has brought the energy and elegance of winter sport to the dinner table through her collaboration with the Italian Olympic Committee. Tasked with illustrating the entire suite of special edition packaging for Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Rings Pasta, she created a visual narrative that celebrates both the drama and beauty of elite competition.

Her designs are filled with movement and atmosphere: skiers carving fresh lines across powder, snowboarders kicking up snow in sharp turns, and ski jumpers suspended mid-flight against vast alpine skies. Each scene conveys the intensity of Olympic sport while simultaneously evoking the grandeur of Italy’s winter landscapes.

The project was conceived not only as a tribute to medal-winning athletes but also as a way of embedding the Olympic spirit into everyday life. By transforming pasta packaging into a canvas for storytelling, Tomaselli ensured that the Milano-Cortina Games would resonate beyond the sporting arenas, reaching households across Italy and beyond.

Her snowy Italian scenes struck a chord with audiences and juries alike. At Cannes Lions 2026, the work was recognised with a Silver Lion in the Social & Creator category, underscoring the power of illustration to elevate brand experiences and connect emotionally with consumers.

For Tomaselli, the commission represented a rare opportunity to merge national pride, cultural heritage, and artistic expression. By capturing the essence of winter sport in such vivid detail, she not only honoured the athletes but also reinforced the role of design in shaping how global events are remembered and celebrated.
