McDonald’s India has appointed Shruti Shukla as Head of Strategy & Insights. Shukla, who announced the move on LinkedIn, brings over a decade of experience from McKinsey & Company, where she was a Capabilities & Insights Expert. Her appointment signals a strengthened focus on customer understanding and strategic growth.

McDonald’s India has announced the appointment of Shruti Shukla as its new Head of Strategy & Insights, a move that underscores the company’s commitment to deepening its understanding of consumer behaviour and driving data-led growth in one of its most dynamic markets. Shukla shared the news on LinkedIn, writing, “Excited to begin a new chapter as Head of Strategy & Insights at McDonald’s India,” and added, “Looking forward to learning from the business, the teams behind it, and the millions of customers we serve every day.”

Her appointment comes at a pivotal time for McDonald’s India, which continues to expand its footprint and evolve its offerings to meet the changing tastes and expectations of Indian consumers. With the quick service restaurant sector experiencing rapid transformation, Shukla’s expertise in insights and strategy is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the brand’s future direction.

Shukla joins McDonald’s India after an impressive 11-year tenure at McKinsey & Company, where she most recently served as a Capabilities & Insights Expert. In this role, she specialised in building analytical frameworks, guiding businesses through complex market landscapes, and helping organisations harness data to inform decision-making. Her experience at McKinsey has equipped her with a strong foundation in strategic thinking and consumer-centric insights, skills that will be invaluable in her new role.

Prior to McKinsey, Shukla worked at eClerx as a Process Manager for two years, where she gained early exposure to operational processes and efficiency-driven solutions. This combination of operational grounding and strategic expertise positions her uniquely to contribute to McDonald’s India’s ambitions of balancing scale with customer intimacy.

Industry observers note that her appointment reflects McDonald’s India’s broader emphasis on insights-driven growth. As the brand celebrates three decades in the country, it is increasingly focused on leveraging consumer data, cultural understanding, and behavioural trends to refine its offerings and strengthen its connection with diverse audiences. Shukla’s role will likely involve not only analysing customer behaviour but also translating those insights into actionable strategies across marketing, product innovation, and customer experience.

Her arrival also highlights the growing importance of leadership roles dedicated to insights and strategy within India’s fast-food and retail sectors. As competition intensifies and consumer expectations evolve, companies are investing in leaders who can bridge the gap between data and decision-making, ensuring that strategies remain relevant and impactful.

For McDonald’s India, Shukla’s appointment is more than just a leadership change; it signals a renewed focus on listening to customers and embedding insights at the heart of its operations. With her background in consulting and analytics, she is expected to bring a fresh perspective to how the brand engages with millions of consumers across the country.
