The Vita Coco Company has acquired Copra, a premium refrigerated coconut water brand, in a $175 million deal that could rise to $275 million with earnouts. The move marks Vita Coco’s entry into cold-chain coconut water, expanding its reach across ambient and premium hydration categories with Copra’s Thai-based facility.

The Vita Coco Company has announced a landmark acquisition of Copra, a premium refrigerated coconut water brand, in a transaction valued at $175 million. The deal includes performance-based earnouts that could lift the total consideration to $275 million, underscoring the strategic importance of this move in reshaping Vita Coco’s portfolio.

Copra has built its reputation around Thai Nam Hom coconuts and a refrigerated production process that preserves freshness and flavour, positioning itself at the premium end of the hydration market. With net sales projected to surpass $100 million in FY2026, Copra represents one of the fastest-growing players in the cold-chain coconut water segment.

For Vita Coco, the acquisition marks its first significant step into refrigerated beverages, complementing its established presence in ambient coconut water. By integrating Copra’s expertise and Thailand-based processing facility, Vita Coco gains both production capabilities and credibility in a category increasingly favoured by consumers seeking natural, minimally processed hydration options.

The deal reflects broader shifts in the beverage industry, where cold-chain products are gaining traction as consumers prioritise freshness and authenticity. Vita Coco’s move positions it to compete more effectively against rivals in both mainstream and premium categories, bridging the gap between convenience and quality.

Industry analysts note that the acquisition strengthens Vita Coco’s ability to diversify its offerings and capture new consumer segments. With Copra’s premium positioning and Vita Coco’s established distribution network, the combined entity is expected to accelerate growth and expand market share in the evolving global coconut water industry.
