Tourism New Zealand has appointed Trishnala Vijayakar as its India PR Manager, a strategic move aimed at strengthening the country’s tourism ties with India. Based in Mumbai, Trishnala brings over a decade of experience in communications, brand strategy, and storytelling to her new role, where she will lead efforts to bring the spirit, stories, and warmth of Aotearoa closer to Indian travellers.

With a strong background in media and entertainment, Trishnala has worked with renowned brands such as Viacom18 and WarnerMedia, where she honed her skills in communications, brand strategy, and storytelling. Her experience in managing external communications for leading brands, including MTV, Vh1, and HBO India, has equipped her with the expertise to promote Aotearoa as a premier travel destination for Indian travellers.

“Travel is where I’ve found perspective, joy, and connection over the years,” Trishnala said, expressing her excitement about her new role. “I’m grateful to now channel that love into my work, as I join Tourism New Zealand’s global whānau and lead market efforts as its India PR Manager. Excited to bring the spirit, stories, and warmth of Aotearoa closer to Indian travelers!”

As India PR Manager, Trishnala will focus on building relationships with key stakeholders, including travel agents, media, and influencers, to promote Aotearoa as a must-visit destination. Her experience in conceptualizing and driving youth-focused campaigns, such as road safety and mental health awareness initiatives, will be invaluable in showcasing Aotearoa’s unique offerings to Indian travellers.

Trishnala’s earlier experience includes roles at Edelman and MSLGROUP India, where she managed mandates for clients such as LinkedIn, PayPal, and Marriott International Hotels. Her impressive track record in communications and brand strategy has earned her a reputation as a creative and results-driven professional.

Tourism New Zealand is confident that Trishnala’s appointment will further boost Indian travel to Aotearoa, showcasing the country’s unique landscapes, culture, and experiences to Indian travellers.
