Australian agency BMF has appointed Scott Nowell, co-founder of The Monkeys and AWARD Hall of Fame inductee, as creative chair. The newly-created role replaces the CCO position vacated last year. Nowell will work with BMF’s leadership to elevate its creative output for clients including ALDI, Tourism Tasmania and HCF.
Australian agency BMF has announced the appointment of Scott Nowell as creative chair, a newly-created role following the departure of chief creative officer Stephen de Wolf last year. Nowell, a world-renowned creative leader and co-founder of The Monkeys, brings two decades of industry-defining work to the agency.
Reflecting on his new role, Nowell described BMF as “a rare place where strong culture meets high performance,” adding that he looked forward to raising the bar for clients old and new. His career includes leading The Monkeys’ acclaimed campaigns for Telstra, Qantas, NRMA and MLA, and overseeing award-winning work such as the Cannes Grand Prix-winning ‘Play it Safe’ for the Sydney Opera House and ‘First Digital Nation’ for Tuvalu.
BMF CEO Stephen McArdle hailed Nowell’s appointment as “as exciting as it gets,” noting his creative ambition remains undiminished. Nowell will collaborate with executive creative directors David Fraser and Tom Hoskins, and CSO Christina Aventi, on a portfolio that includes ALDI, Tourism Tasmania, HCF, Endeavour Group and Dementia Australia.
The move comes as BMF, Australia’s reigning Effective Agency of the Year, continues to strengthen its creative leadership. ALDI, one of its flagship clients, has also been recognised as Effective Advertiser of the Year for two consecutive years.
