MTR Foods has launched a new television commercial as part of its integrated Sambar campaign, celebrating Karnataka’s deep cultural bond with the dish. Originating from a social media moment with artist Vasu Dixit, the campaign spans music, live experiences and storytelling, reinforcing Sambar’s role as an enduring symbol of home and belonging.

MTR Foods has unveiled a new television commercial under its integrated Sambar campaign, a culture-led initiative that pays tribute to Karnataka’s enduring relationship with the dish. What began as a social media conversation around people’s memories of Sambar has evolved into a multi-platform celebration, spanning an original anthem, creator collaborations, a live concert, digital content and now television.

For generations, Sambar has been more than just food in Karnataka. It is an emotion, a reminder of home, and a symbol of belonging. Its familiar aroma evokes childhood memories, family meals and the warmth of kitchens where mothers across generations have lovingly prepared it. MTR, with its longstanding presence in Karnataka’s households, has been a trusted companion in this culinary journey, shaping its understanding of what the dish truly means to Kannadigas.

The campaign was envisioned as a cultural celebration of this icon, bringing to life the emotions that continue to make Sambar integral to Karnataka’s identity. Its origins trace back to an unexpected social media moment when acclaimed folk-fusion artist Vasu Dixit shared a reel about Sambar. MTR immediately recognised the resonance and potential of the idea, sparking a collaboration that has since grown into a full-fledged cultural initiative.

Vasu Dixit’s deep connection with Karnataka’s traditions, combined with his contemporary creative voice, made him a natural partner for MTR. Together, they have crafted a campaign that bridges heritage and modernity, ensuring relevance for newer generations while honouring the dish’s timeless place in the state’s culture.

Through music, community participation, live experiences and storytelling, MTR’s Sambar campaign underscores the brand’s philosophy of celebrating food not just as nourishment but as a cultural touchstone. The new television commercial marks the latest chapter in this journey, inviting audiences to rediscover Sambar as more than a dish — as an emotion that continues to unite Karnataka.
